Jotaro POV:

The old man had asked the Speedwagon Foundation for a ship and they would be leaving that morning. Jotaro had just woken up and found Kakyoin already awake and humming to himself.

"What's got you in such a good mood?" Jotaro asked.

"She-- she was cute, wasn't she?" Kakyoin asked, talking about the girl from yesterday.

"Cute?" Jotaro raised his eyebrows. "More like annoying."

"You say that about every girl, Jojo."

"Yeah, because it's true."

Kakyoin chuckled. "Even with the flesh bud controlling her, I could see that she was kind, and she loves her family. I hope she's doing alright, I was a bit worried when she passed out yesterday, but I suppose a lot of people would pass out if they also had to watch a family member burn alive."

"Yeah, too bad we'll never see her again." Jotaro said sarcastically, getting out of bed. He could care less, or so he thought.

"Come on, Jojo! You want to see her too! I saw you looking at her yesterday." Kakyoin teased.

Jotaro stopped in his tracks. Did he really see that?

When Y/N had passed out yesterday, Kakyoin caught her and held her until Polnareff could take her. For some reason, Jotaro had caught himself staring at her sleeping figure for a lot longer than he meant to, but she had just looked so peaceful, so different from how she was before.

Not to mention what happened at the restaurant. Her crystalized form was mesmerizing. But also when she had smiled at him, Jotaro felt his face heat up, which had never happened before. It was why he looked away and tipped his hat down. He wasn't trying to be rude.

Girls smiled at him all the time, but it was usually because they wanted something. They wanted to be noticed, they wanted him to think they were pretty, hell sometimes they actually wanted him to yell at them, which he thought was super strange. But Y/N, she had smiled at him so genuinely. She wasn't looking for anything, she was just trying to be nice, and she now probably thought he was the rudest person in the world because of his response.

Jotaro turned to Kakyoin. "I have no idea what you're talking about." he answered, keeping a straight face.

Kakyoin smiled and shrugged, going back to humming.

"The boat that we chartered yesterday should be at the harbor now." Joseph said. Jotaro and the rest of the group were at the port, ready to leave. They all stopped in their tracks as a familiar face came into view.

"What's wrong? Is there something else you needed, Polnareff?" Avdol asked him. Jotaro looked behind the Frenchman. Y/N was there too, following her brother. Jotaro glanced over at Kakyoin, who was smiling at her, and she smiled back.

Jotaro frowned and looked away from both of them, feeling a certain type of way, though he wasn't sure what to call it.

Why? There's nothing wrong with them just smiling at each other.

Then he realized, maybe he wanted her to smile like that at him too.

"I never properly thanked you for freeing me and my dear sister from DIO's spell." Polnareff said.

"For that, you need to thank Jojo." Avdol gestured toward him.

Jotaro was pulled out of his thoughts and wasn't sure what to say. "Don't need it." he said simply, then looked over at Y/N. She looked slightly sad.

Maybe I should've just accepted his thanks. That would've been the nice thing to do right?

What am I thinking? Since when did I care about going out of my way to do something that was 'nice'?
