2. It's Not Because of You

Start from the beginning

"Alright. But Monsieur Joestar, I'd like to ask you a very bizarre question." Polnareff said.

"Bizarre?" Joseph asked.

"Your left hand wouldn't happen to be a right hand, would it?"

"My left hand a right hand? That is bizarre. What do you mean?"

Jotaro watched as Polnareff and Y/N's demeanor completely changed. Whereas before they were courteous and kind, now they seemed serious and filled with determination.

"We're looking for the man who killed our sister." Y/N spoke up, no longer smiling.

Joseph slowly took off his glove to reveal a mechanical hand. "I lost it in a battle 50 years ago."

"I'm sorry for my rudeness. Please forgive me." Polnareff apologized.

"If it's not too painful for you two, tell us what happened."

Y/N turned to Polnareff expectantly, and Jotaro could see tears forming in her eyes. In that moment, he wished he could somehow do something about it.

Polnareff held Y/N's hand to calm her, and began telling them about how their sister was killed by a man with two right hands. Then he explained how they met DIO, joined forces with him, and was ordered to kill the group.

When he was done, Kakyoin spoke up. "It would appear that DIO has found the man with two right hands and has joined forces with him."

"Then we've decided to go to Egypt with all of you!" Polnareff exclaimed.

"If we go after DIO, we'll be able to find the one who took our sister's life!" Y/N continued.

"Hmm, what should we do?" Kakyoin asked, playfully smiling at Y/N. She grinned back, clearly excited.

Jotaro waited, but she didn't share the same grin with him. She didn't even glance his way, but stayed fixed on Kakyoin. The group gladly let the siblings join them.

"Yare yar--"

"Excuse me!" A voice interrupted Jotaro. He was met by two smiling girls running up to him. "Would you mind taking our picture?"

Jotaro looked past the girls to see Y/N and Kakyoin talking some distance away, not noticing the rest of them.

That could be me if these damn girls would just leave me alone!

"Shut up! You're annoying, go ask someone else!" Jotaro shouted. His outburst caught Y/N's attention.

"Now, now, now... I'd be happy to take your picture." Polnareff interrupted, and led the girls away.

They watched him flirt with the girls and Y/N facepalmed.

"That was a very sudden change of mood." Kakyoin commented.

Y/N sighed and smiled. "Well, that's my brother for you." She looked over at Jotaro and went up to him. "Those girls. I'm sure you must get that a lot. Thank you for helping me and Jean by the way."

"Don't thank me, its annoying. I already told you I don't want it. I didn't do it just for you so don't thank me." It had come out more cruel than he meant it to be.

"I see..." she smiled, clearly a bit hurt.

Jotaro's expression softened. "Y/N--"

"We should get on our ship." Kakyoin interrupted him.

Jotaro had been about to apologize, something he didn't do. Instead, he took a step back, lowering his hat, and let Kakyoin lead Y/N to the ship, with him trailing behind.

Y/N POV:

"Wait. We're going on a boat?" you said, hesitating.

"Are you afraid of the ocean, Y/N?" Kakyoin asked.

"Well... maybe just a little. I mean, you don't know what's in there, you know? There could be like a giant squid or something and you wouldn't know it!" You nervously took a step away from the ship, bumping into Jotaro, who steadied you, placing a hand on your shoulder.

"Oh! Sorry..." you looked up at Jotaro, though you couldn't tell at all what he was thinking. You immediately hoped he wouldn't yell at you for apologizing. Your face heated up, you anxious about the ocean and Jotaro.

He lowered his hat and sighed.

Oh dear heaven, here it comes, he's going to yell at me. What did I do to deserve this?

To your surprise, he didn't yell at you, but instead grabbed your hand and led you onto the ship, trying not to look at you, though you could see his face tinted slightly pink. He didn't say a word.

You blushed madly as his hand held yours, dragging you behind him. It was just so unexpected.

Kakyoin stared after you and Jotaro with a blank expression, also saying nothing, you had no idea what he could be thinking right now.

Jotaro let go of your hand when you reached the deck, and you felt the soft swaying motion of the docked ship. You immediately wanted him to hold your hand again, despite it being so awkward. It would be better than stressing out the whole time. You ran and grabbed the next best thing, the railing.

You held on for dear life, breathing heavily, staring down at the water. You hated not knowing what was there, and it filled you with frightening thoughts.

You heard Jotaro sigh again and walk over to you. He took one of your hands off the railing and held it again. He cleared his throat as if he were going to say something and you looked at him.

"You're not going to fall off the boat you dumb bitch." He mumbled. "Even if you do, nothing's going to attack you or eat you. I-- I'm not going to let any of that happen to you. So calm down, dumbass." he said quietly.

Maybe he meant for it to sound comforting, but you certainly didn't see it that way.

"I-I'm not a d-dumb bitch just because I'm s-scared of the ocean." You said shaking. You yanked your hand away and took a deep breath. "I don't need to deal with your insults and I definitely don't need you to look after me."

You walked away from him and toward Kakyoin, who had just gotten onto the deck with the rest of the group.

Jotaro said nothing but leaned on the railing, looking out at the ocean. You heard him let out a deep sigh as you walked away.

**A/N: next chapter is Dark Blue Moon. Um, should I take Anne out of the story? She's not my favorite character, but I know some people like her, so I thought I'd ask first.✌**
