The fishes dance in the serene water. The colorless heavens of clouds covered the sun, shadowing the earth of its presence.
Weeks has passed after their conversation and everything is back to normal.
"A spirit festival?" Baji asked confusingly as he munch on the fresh made mochi he bought with them.
"No, a summer festival held by the spirits" Y/n clarified as she tried to catch a fish with her rod. Baji bought it also with him but he got to tired watching fishes stray away from his hook. So he gave it to y/n for her to Try.
"Huh? There's not much of a difference" he huffed.
"The naunce is completely different!" y/n grumbled. Keisuke stopped eating and looked at her trying to process the word his little brain is unfamiliar with.
"Nuance?" he asked.
"When you were little, I thought that you would get scared so i didn't invite you" she said honestly.
"But tonight, Can you sneak out of your house? I've wanted to go with you for a long time " she requested.
Keisuke blushed before quickly smirking "Ofcourse i can, I'm an expert at that" he said.
He jumped at the rock he was sitting on, smacking his chest lightly.
"Meet me at eight, the usual meeting place " Y/n said.
"Wait but a festival full of spirits is a little unerving. And at night at that" he said putting a finger under his chin.
"Don't worry, On the outside its not very different from a human festival. It's supposed to mimic human festivals after all."
Y/n placed the fishing rod at her side before looking at baji. Keisuke was caught off guard after she removed her mask to see her smiling face.
"I'll protect you Keisuke" she said.
Baji felt his heart thump and his ears getting hot. Over the summers, baji had quite develop a deep admiration for you. He didn't know how, why ,when it started but it did. Now there's no escaping.
After all love is unpredictable even to those with the brains of knowledge.
"When you say things like that, it makes me want to glomp at you" he whispered.
"Do it" y/n said. Baji's eye widened at her serious tone.
"Seriously do it" she repeated.
"No I'm Not going to do that and its final!" he yelled stepping in to get close to her but he suddenly remembered, he was standing in a rock, In the middle of the river. Filled with wet water.
So baji keisuke fell with a splash, gurgling the water that's coming inside his mouth. He flapped his arms like a drowning duck.
Y/n watched in disinterest before poking him with the rod.
She caught a fish.
The clock ticked to Eight as keisuke slowly steps out of the house, careful not to wake his uncle. After he got out he tip toed a bit further, flashing his light he dash to the forest.
The moon shined bright as the stars accompanied it in the lonely night. The cricketing of insects echoed in the woods.
Baji rushed, wearing a yukata he found at his uncles closet which y/n requested for him to wear.
He ducked and leap the obstacles that are in his way as he made it to their meeting spot.
By the staircase stands Y/n fully clad in a (f/c) with sakura petal patterns. Her mask in her face as the moon peaked at her back.
Keisuke huffed in exhaustion, putting a hand to his knees as he breath heavily. He wiped his sweat then looked at the girl before him.
Keisuke know that behind that mask, Y/n still looked beautiful as ever.
Y/n is a Pulchritudinous gift from between heaven and earth.
"So shall we?" she said. Gesturing the way to the festival.
Baji snapped out of his nightdreams. Fixing his attire, he nooded and smiled.
"Let's enjoy the night" he said.
The two walked of to the floating lights guiding to the festival.
The moon cursed their core of bosomed intimacy, as the soil by their feet crush the lingering ill at ease feelings that surrounded the world.
Can the fireflies lit up ones eyes if the endless space above is blind?
Because in this night, by this time, on the forest of pleasing evocation. Both heard the story of the song that whispered in their ears.
