Leaving the crowd wasn't an easy task and when I finally find myself alone, I breathe out deeply. I was going to have a headache if I stayed inside any longer. At least the balcony is calm and the air is fresh and I can think clearly for once and...
"May, there you are!" I hear someone gasp behind me, turning around and smiling when I recognize Kim. She grins widely, rushing to hug me tight while the both of us laugh. Maybe I can spare some time for my friend, I haven't seen her in a while.
"Hey," I say when I pull away, smirking at her. "If it isn't the Queen of England." I wiggle my eyebrows and she giggles before posing in her light blue dress, fingers grazing the extravagant hat on her head.
"The one and only." I laugh, so happy to see Kim after so long. "I've missed you so much May! I'm sorry I didn't come to visit in while, things have been so hectic at Cambridge." She sighs and I dismiss her apology with a motion of my hand.
"Don't worry Lily," I laugh, leaning back on the balcony where I've been standing, lost in my thoughts and admiring the gardens at night. "I've been so busy myself, it's crazy."
"Is that why you needed some time alone?" She asks, leaning next to me and I nod.
"Yeah, I haven't had time for myself in while." I sigh, glancing at the party going on in the ballroom. Only the music and faint voices could be heard from the balcony, the bright lights illuminating my spot only slightly. "Especially with Anthony's birthday and all the preparation."
"Oh, yes!" She claps her hands, eyes lightening up. "I've seen him, he's so adorable. Can you believe he's four already?" She gasps and I shake my head with a smile.
"They always grow up so fast." I laugh. "But he's such a brilliant kid, I love him. And Zoe's a wonderful mother."
"I guessed so, she's so young but absolutely lovely. Matt's great too." Kim smiles. "But now, tell me about you! How are things with the curly one?" She pokes my shoulder and I roll my eyes with a smile.
"They've been great."
"Great only?" She scoffs and I make a face at her. "Has he, I don't know? Popped the question maybe?"
"Kim," I sigh. "I already told you about it and-"
"Yeah, yeah," She rolls her eyes. "The whole 'we've only known each other for two months and you weren't ready and you wanted to take time' blah, blah, blah." She mocks my voice and I shake my head, an amused smile on my face. "But it's been-what? Five years since then?"
"Well, sorry if not everyone goes quick into business like you and Rupert. " I retort and she sticks her tongue out at me.
"We both knew what we wanted and it was a mutual decision, so.."
"It's alright, it's alright." I raise my hands in surrender, making her laugh.
"And, our sex life is pretty awesome." She adds with a smirk and I give her a weird look.
"I...didn't need to know about that." She laughs, the sound echoing. "But seriously, I still don't know what to think about marriage. I mean, Harry and I have been dating for five years and we're pretty happy with what we have." I shrug and she leans her cheek on her fist, watching me intently.
"Have you discussed it?"
"Uhh...No?" I frown. "I don't think so."
"I think you should." She suggests with a shrug. "Maybe he's wanted it for a while, but was scared of your reaction. I mean, you did freak him out last time he asked." She laughs and I nudge her shoulder.
