"I never specified any individuals, just androids in general..." you huff with nothing but tiresome vocals.

"I believe it's called parkour, and many humans do such things for fun. She's even done it on a few cases with us, but it's your own fault for not being able to keep up. So why is there any doubt that she can be just as good as me?" Nines explains with little movement.

Something that you have earned quickly is his respect, and you gained it within a week after you both met. He often backs you up and will defend your talents if he believes they deserve it, but this also bugs the hell out of Reed. Part of the reason he's always trying to challenge you is to try and prove that you're not as good as his partner likes to think.

"Why is she so special? Nines thinks all humans are practically useless, but he praises (y/n) like she's another android... Why can't I get any respect!?" he will often think. Jealousy has led to his constant pestering, and it has only further annoyed him when Nines defends you.

You listen to his statement, realizing that he is complimenting you, but you also hear something more. He stated that you can be as good as him, but not better. The competitive and confident side of you emerges as you push yourself into a stand to pivot around. With a single step you approach Nines, only a foot separating your bodies. With a firm stare upward your eyes lock, and confusion sets in when his blue irises register your actions.

"Did I say something wrong, detective?"

Although short in comparison to his height of six foot one, you continue at your attempt to intimidate him. Unsuccessfully, I might add. "You said that I could be as good as you, but not better. You think I can't beat you at a parkour race?"

His eyes close, and a smirk arises. "Oh," he starts, arms crossing when he realizes what is being said, "I have no doubt that you could most likely beat my predecessor, Connor, but me?" He chuckles quietly. "I'm the most advance machine out there."

"That's what I'm saying!" Gavin exclaims with arms thrown out.

A gasp of shock takes over all of your features. "I can to! Especially if the circumstances are right!" you announce with crossed arms and one leg extended. The sassy posture helps make your point.

Nines bends slightly, his face now at the same eye level as yours. A small, evil smile crosses his lips. "Then maybe we should try and settle this little argument..."

"When and where?" you question with aggravation.

"How about after work? Unless you're chicken," Gavin pipes in, hands overlaying each bicep as he stares you down with certainty of your failure.

"Fine," you start firmly, eyes briefly flicking over to the man who just spoke, "Nines, what's the weather going to be this evening?"

His LED spins yellow, and his icy blues shift towards the ceiling. "Cloudy with a chance of precipitation, and 68 degrees." Irises fall, landing to lock with yours. "Does that sound good to you, detective? Or should we postpone until you're ready to lose?" he questions with a smirk, and a glance towards Reed.

Eyes roll. "These two rarely get along. What's with men and competition that makes them stick together, especially when it's against a woman?" You sigh. "Sounds good to me. We'll meet at Riverside Park. Seven o'clock, right on the dot."

"See you there..." Nines quietly smiles, eyes twinkling with confidence and the desire of competition. If there's any way to prove himself better, he'll take that chance.

(E/c) eyes stare at the clock glowing upon your phone. "It's 6:59... Where are they?" you mumble to yourself, pocketing your device before walking back and forth with impatience. "I just want to get this over with. As much as I love to prove people wrong, I'm not really up to it today..."
