Revenants and Hallucinations

Chan didn't end up going home early during school, he'd managed to convince the office not to call his parents as they'd 'be at work and not want to be disturbed,' and they'd left it at that.

Instead, they made Chan sit in the nurse's office for about 2 hours and he was bored out of his mind. Also considering he'd used his phone down to 2% and there were no chargers in sight.

He hadn't taken out his energy drink until the school nurse had left, knowing that she most definitely wouldn't approve, probably even more so than Changbin and that's really saying something.

The last fifteen minutes before they deemed him fit enough to walk home were spent thinking about literally everything that happened to him in the past year.

Chan and his family hadn't even been living in the house for one year, but with everything going on Chan really felt like they'd lived there for years.

Everything was so surreal, like it wasn't actually happening (although it definitely was happening if the out of place revenants are anything to go by).

The main thing he thought about was the fact that his mental state had changed drastically. Flinching became a common occurrence and obviously, there were the anxiety attacks that Chan had never experienced previously until recently. He wondered if he could ever even get better.

Somehow Chan's friends found out that he hadn't actually left school, despite Chan not being in the class he was supposed to be in that also contained Felix and Jeongin.

Chan thought it was just another random first year that 'had a headache and needed to sit in the nurse's office for a bit.' There has been 3 in the past 2 hours of Chan being here and he was beginning to get sick of the faking 12-year-olds who just wanted a few minutes out of class, considering them entering was making his ongoing headache a lot worse.

So he was surprised to find Seungmin pushing the door open followed by Minho, Felix and Hyunjin. They closed the door gently and went over to Chan, who looked up at them quite literally like a lost puppy.

There was an audible sigh at the observation of the energy drink Chan was currently slurping from, followed by a disapproving glare from all 4 boys, Chan avoided their eyes.

"We heard you hadn't left yet so we told the office that we were gonna walk you home and 'make sure you get home safe' according to Hyunjin" Minho was the first to speak.

"I was just making sure they knew that he'd be okay" the boy pouted, the lot evidently having had a conversation about his word choice beforehand.

"It sounded like you were gonna kidnap him or something, Hyunjin" Seungmin deadpanned.

"No it didn't!"

"Yes it did, I don't make the rules" Seungmin then proceeded to walk over and plop himself down next to Chan.

"You doing okay?" Felix asked.

"Yeah, I napped for a little bit so I'm not as tired" he'd napped for 15 minutes of the two hours and if anything he was more tired.

"Ah that's good to hear, I might have believed that if you weren't currently sipping a Monster but each to their own I guess" they really could see right through him.

"Hey, a Monster a day keeps the doctor away" Chan took another prolonged sip of the said drink, raising his brows comically as Seungmin rolled his eyes.

"An apple, Chan. An apple a day keeps the doctor away... a Monster a day will probably do the exact opposite and where will that leave you?"

"Hopefully in the hands of a very sexy doctor"

"Chan that's very illegal"

"What, for a man to have taste?" Seungmin held his head in his arms, rubbing his temples as if the conversation was actually sucking brain cells from every crevice as they spoke.

"Now get, we're taking you home" Minho cut in and ushered him up, Chan didn't tell them about the dizzy spell that fell over him when he stood up, but he couldn't help but consider the fact that they most definitely noticed, just hadn't pointed it out.

"The others were gonna come as well but Jeongin has to take his brother to his swimming lessons and therefore needs to get home as early as possible, Changbin's staying for extra study, and I didn't even want to know what Jisung's reason was so I walked away before he could tell us" Minho explained and Chan had to hold in a snort, poor Jisung.

Despite Chan's complaints, Felix snatched his school bag up and declared that he'd carry it for him along with his own. Chan felt bad, but he couldn't argue with a concerned Felix. That boy was willing to help people in every way possible and wouldn't give in to something that could possibly make the situation harder for the person in question.

"Thanks, Edna" Minho declared to the probably incessantly confused school nurse, giving her a salute before they all but rushed Chan out the main doors. Way to make it seem like you weren't kidnapping me.

"You know the nurse's name?" Felix questioned, Chan quickly realized that he was holding the hoodie he was wearing earlier as well as his school bag.

"No?"

"Then why-" Seungmin trailed off, eyebrows creased as more brain cells broke away.

"Aren't all school nurses called Edna?"

"Minho-" Seungmin was back to rubbing his temples again and Chan and Felix had to contain their laughter.

"Chan get on my back" Minho very quickly changed the subject.

"I'm sorry what?" Chan looked up in disbelief.

"You are feeling dizzy, probably ill, and we don't want you to pass out again, now get on my back"

"Minho, I'm fine, I've had water I'm not gonna pass out" Minho didn't answer, only glared back and that was that, Chan got on his back without another argument.

"Is anyone home?" Seungmin asked.

"No, my brother and sister will still be at school and my parents are at work" Chan spoke, head resting in the crook of Minho's neck once he realized how tired he actually was.

"Right" when they arrived at Chan's house, the boy made a move to remove himself from Minho's back, but the boy held on tight. Chan let out a sound reminiscent to the epitome of confusion as Felix unlocked the door with the spare key Chan didn't even know was under the mat.

They made their way up the stairs to Chan's room and Minho very much launched Chan onto the bed after Seungmin pulled the covers away, the boy nearly hitting his head on the wall.

Before Chan could say anything his shoes were taken off and the covers were placed back over him. The covers were unceremoniously pushed under Chan so that he was 'tucked in,' as Felix put it, quite literally like a little kid.

"Now sleep" as a sleeping pill was forcefully placed into his mouth, giving Chan no other choice but to grab water before it melted in his mouth and left that uncomfortable chemical-like taste.

"I'm not tired?" He whined, drinking the water to help the pill go down.

"You're a fucking liar" they were right, he was fucking a liar, he closed his eyes approximately 2 minutes after the conversation and fell asleep immediately.

I do apologize, it has been a hot minute since I last updated, school has been...it's been, it's- yeah, it's going.

I'm not trying to make excuses but like also this is definitely my excuse lmao sorry 🤌🏻
