A/n: You can probably notice but just in case, this fic is set in non modern era. It's more in a medieval period. Just think of it as a time with no technology and simple lifestyles.
Two years later
Yeosang waves at Jongho in the distance, he's walking to his little house with the usual wagon he comes with when he collects Yeosang's crops. Behind him is Mingi, Yeosang can see his excited expression even from far away. Even after two years, they still get excited to see Yeosang, the feeling obviously being mutual.
Mingi is breathing heavily when they arrive at his house, immediately rushing to the kitchen to grab a drink of water.
"I don't know why you're dying of exhaustion when I was the one pulling this heavy thing!" Jongho complains, pointing to the wagon.
"Please, you have diamonds, I have clovers. And that thing is empty!" Mingi says while the other just mumbles under his breath.
They bicker like this 24/7 and Yeosang always finds it amusing to watch since he's a beginner in how friendships work. The first time he'd seen the pair playfully arguing Yeosang became distressed, thinking that their friendship was over. Back then, he had tried to console both of them and pushed them away from each other to stop anything physical from happening. They just looked at him in confusion, wondering why he was so serious when they were just bickering about who got to use the bathroom first.
"Come on now, there's no time to waste" Yeosang takes them to his large garden, he had expanded it within the last two years since a lot was going with Jongho and Mingi to be sold at the village.
The pair enjoy coming to his garden, Yeosang has no idea why though. They always offer to help him harvest the crop, not because they feel obliged to help him, but because they genuinely enjoy it. Jongho has a talent for it, Mingi not so much (he blames it on the fact that Jongho has diamonds and he has clovers- as usual).
Since they see each other only a few times a week, and Yeosang is always out of the loop since he doesn't live in the village, they always enjoy catching up and filling him in on hot gossip that would be going around that time.
"You'll never believe what I witnessed today" Jongho starts, earning both Mingi and Yeosang's attention. "I went to a wedding. One of them had red marks and the other had blue marks".
Mingi drops everything in his hand, letting out a loud gasp. Yeosang frowns when he sees how wide his eyes went, his mouth hanging open while Jongho nods.
"No. Way... you're lying aren't you" Yeosang has never seen Mingi this shocked before. As someone with clovers, being highly intelligent, he doesn't often get shocked hearing gossip since he usually can see it coming.
Jongho can only nod while Yeosang just stands there waiting for an explanation as to why they're so shocked. "I saw it with my own eyes, the blue guy seemed happy though. What a crazy world we live in". Jongho tuts, looking disappointed.
"Can someone fill me in please" Yeosang can't stand how both of them are taking so long to explain to him why a blue marked person marrying a red marked is so shocking.
"Yeosang... if a blue marked bonds with a red, their marks turn red too". Mingi explains.
This time Yeosang is the one who raises his eyebrows in surprise. He knows the meaning behind the colour of your marks, how it determines your class, Mingi and Jongho both being of the lower class with their red marks and living in the village. Blue marked are rich, upperclassmen while purple are the highest of ranks, royalty.
'Weddings' are another term for bonding ceremonies, your magic and 'soul' bond together to become one, it's the closest you can get to someone you love so it's a big deal. Yeosang had no idea bonding with someone of lower rank lowered yours too. He supposes it's a way to keep the upperclassmen 'pure'. It makes him sick.
