32-Everette

"You'll do fine." I tell her and she nods, pulling out her own work and starting on it while I go get her something to eat.

My next few classes go by quickly and after school I sit and wait for Atlas to come out of the building, James rambling on from beside me.

"Hi gorgeous." I say when she walks outside, putting my arm around her and saying bye to James.

"Okay so that's 2" I explain to her and she shakes her head.

"How?!" She exclaims and puts her hands in the air

"Okay baby. For one, breathe. We'll work through it again."

She shakes her head, her eyes teary and I smile softly.

"It's gonna be fine."

"I know that- but if I don't pass this test I fail the class and if I fail the class I don't get to graduate and I really want to graduate." Atlas rants.

"You're gonna pass the test. Let's take a break, I'll get you something to drink." I walk downstairs getting her a glass of water, gathering myself.

God I love her but she is hard to tutor.

"How's she doing?" Leah asks from the living room

"She's doing alright. She's stressed."

"Yeah me too. This calc test is gonna kick my ass." She laughs and I nod, walking back upstairs.

Me and Atlas work through the problems on the study guide again, and slowly she begins to get it.

"Do you need help with anything else?" I ask and she shakes her head

"I have some assignments for Psychology but other than that I did all of my assignments today."

I nod, walking off to take a shower.

When I get out of the shower Atlas's head is pressed to her desk, her arms laying beside her and I smile, lifting her out of the chair and placing her on her bed, pulling a blanket over her.

"Goodnight." She mumbles and I kiss her head

"Goodnight baby." I turn the lights out on her room and walk to the living room, Zach sitting on the couch when I reach the bottom step

"Oh hey Zach, when'd you get here?" I ask and he looks up from his phone

"About 20 minutes ago. I was gonna see Paige for a while." He says and I sit beside him.

"She's watching my sister, I can go get her if you want." I tell him and he nods

"Could you? And bring the child too." I laugh and walk back up the stairs, getting Paige and Athena and going back downstairs. Paige runs to Zach and hugs him, Athena staying glued to my hip.

Zach gets up and takes Athena from me, tickling her as she laughs and huddles into his arms, it makes me happy, seeing her happy.

I eventually go take a shower and climb in bed beside Atlas, resting my arm over her and my head next to hers, her breathing slowly lulling me to sleep.

"Atlas stop panicking. We went over the questions 50,000 times. You'll do fine."

"Okay but what if I fail?"

"You won't. Now come on let's actually go inside the classroom the bell's about to ring."

She breathes in deeply and opens the class door, walking inside and sitting at her desk, I slide in beside her and pull out my own study guide, looking over it one last time before the teacher comes in to give us this god forbidden test.

A few minutes later the teacher walks in and begins giving the instructions for the test.

"Now class, you have the entirety of this class period to finish the test, if you do not finish it within the specified amount of time you will receive an incomplete. This test is 40% of your grade so be diligent. Work and re-work the problems before turning it in." 

She passed out the papers and I immediately start on the test, working the problems and checking them.

It seems like forever by the time I finish the test, and look at that, I'm the first one done. I sit in my chair patiently waiting for somebody to turn theirs in before me and a few minutes later Atlas gets up and turns hers in.

I smirk at her and stand up to turn mine in. I read the rest of the class period and when the bell rings I grab Atlas's hand and pull her out of the class.

"How do you think you did?" I ask and she shrugs

"I'm not sure, I hope I did good though."

We go to the rest of our classes before returning to the calculus room at the end of the day to receive our scores. I get there before Atlas and the teacher hands me my paper in an envelope, the same way she always does and I wait in the hallway for Atlas.

When she gets her paper I drive her home, she rushes inside to the table and I go in behind her.

I see her crossing her fingers as she rips open the envelope and my heart sinks in my chest.

I really hope she fucking passes.

I open my envelope as she opens hers.

I got a 94.  I didn't even expect that high of a grade.

I watch as she opens hers.

"Oh. My.god!" She exclaims happily and I kiss her

"Told you." I say and she laughs

"Whatever." She says and I smile at her.

"It's gonna be fine." I say for the thousandth time and she hugs me.

"Yeah, it will."
