ALEXIS
Yesterday was a bliss. My sister's and I had a lot of fun. We flew to the Bahamas for a day long vacation before my wedding today. Carina was my maid of honour and Layla and Amara were the bridesmaids. Genieve and Carter were helping but they had refused the offer, I understood why they did it.
I woke up this morning to a bouquet of orchids from Damien. I set them aside in a vase full of water as my sister's dragged me out of bed to get ready. I took a warm shower and had a binding breakfast before I walked towards the east wing of the castle. We had all collectively agreed to come down here to get ready.
"I miss you," My shoulders sagged in relief hearing Damien's voice. "I miss you too," I said playfully. "I can't wait to see you walking down the aisle," I laughed. "Six more hours," I reminded checking the time. Amara approached me with raised eyebrows. I quickly bid Damien goodbye and stansted my phone behind my back.
"Al, c'mon we have to get ready," I jumped up and followed her inside. Amara grabbed the wedding dress and pushed me in the bathroom to change.
When I came out, the room went silent for a moment. Then the chaos resumed. Genieve sat me down infront of the dressing table and di my makeup.
My wedding dress sat upon my skin as soft petals, its hue the many whites of winter. "You look beautiful," Genieve said curling my hair. My cheeks tinted pink. "Thank you," I said softly, fiddling with my hands.
"All done," I looked in the mirror. The woman starting back at me was confident, yet I didn't feel so. I swallowed bobbing my head. This is not the time to get cold feet. I reminded myself. I looked around myself, my sister's looked radiant in their dresses. This was the happiest day of my life, but something was missing.
"I'll be right back," I called out suddenly. Carina patted my hand in understanding, letting me walk out. My heart was stuck in my throat when I crashed into someone. "Damien," I breathed. "Mariposa," he said back, taking my hands into his and pulling me into the safety of four walls.
"You look beautiful," he said, his breath laboured. I sniffed, suddenly throwing my arms around his neck. "I miss him too," Damien finally said, wrapping his hands around my waist. "I wish he was here," I said pulling away.
"Rhys is watching over us, he's probably cursing me from hell for leaving you when he died," I laughed softly, "it was ten years ago," I said mimicking his words from earlier.
"C'mon, its almost time to leave," he guided me towards the east wing. I gave him a peck before walking away. When I entered the room, Genieve handed me a glass of water and ushered me inside. "Ace will be here soon to walk you down the aisle," she said, smoothing down her dress.
"Can I come in?" Romeo asked from behind the door. Genieve told him he could and that's when the door burst open. Felix and Rose came barging in.
Out of all of us, Genieve and Amara were the only two with kids. Genieve and Carter had Felix and Rose and Amara was three weeks along. "Hey baby sis. How're you feeling?" Romeo asked pulling me into a hug.
"Happy," I said. Romeo beamed and handed me something. A pearl necklace, it was simple and beautiful. "It was mom's," Romeo clarified when I asked. "Something old," he said.
I hadn't noticed the rest of my brother's had come too until Liam spoke up, "Here," he said handing me something. I placed the necklace on the table and opened the box to find a dagger there. "Something new," he said winking.
I laughed and pulled him into a hug. "I love you," I clutched him a little tighter. "I love you too," I finally said pulling away. "My turn," Lucas said handing me whatever it is that he had brought. "Something borrowed," He said beaming up at me.
