(Preference: why you two broke up)

Gordie Lachance: It was a mutual decision. You were each at different universities trying to make long distance work but it just wasn't. No matter how many letters you sent or phone calls you shared, it just wasn't enough to keep you both going. Soon you both started missing calls and you both felt the shift in your relationship. You maturely made the decision that it was best for the both of you to break up. The door was still open for the future of your relationship but that didn't make the heartbreak any easier.

Chris Chambers: Him breaking up with you caught you completely off-guard. Sure, he'd been acting a bit distant lately but you thought everything was perfect between you two. He claimed to have fallen out of love with you but you knew that wasn't the real reason. You wanted to fight for your relationship but he firmly shut you down. You could have sworn you heard him mutter something like 'Chambers kids don't get happy endings' but he denied it. He walked out the door without looking back, leaving you in a crumpled heap on the floor with sobs wracking your body.

Teddy Duchamp: You knew from the beginning that his behavior could be erratic but it just seemed to be getting worse with each passing day. He never laid a hand on you but his random bursts of anger scared the hell out of you. You stayed and tried to get him to seek help but he refused, always saying he didn't need it when he clearly did. One day, you finally made the decision that you couldn't just sit there while he self destructed again and again. You left him, putting yourself first for the first time in a long time.

Vern Tessio: After being together for a few years, you just felt you were in two different places relationship-wise. His childish ways that you used to love gradually became not enough for you. You thought he needed to do some growing up and he thought you needed to not take things so seriously. You wanted your relationship to mature but he was just stuck in his ways and you in yours. It hurt you terribly to hurt him but you did it. You cried in each others arms, promising to remain friends. Whether that was possible or not, you didn't know.
