You covered your face "I hate you both sometimes," you groaned, "but fine, just don't blame me when it doesn't work!" They grinned and high-fived each other and you rolled your eyes.
"George said it would work," Fred said at the same time that George said, "Fred said it would work." They narrowed their eyes at each other, and sensing a possible squabble you sat down on the floor and crossed your legs beside the cauldron, "okay, let's try this then."
Two hours and three plates of buttered toast between you later, you stirred the finished potion. "Okay it's done. You need to let it sit for an hour too cool down before putting it into these vials, and remember to shake it before drinking it," you held up the two glass vials George had supplied, "and then you need to use it within eight hours to give it the best chance of working, which it won't."
"Wicked," they both said, grinning at you. You stood up and brushed off your skirt, "I'm heading to the library before class so I'll see you in the Great Hall later? I think most people are putting their names in after lunch."
"See you there," they said in unison and they stood up as well, hugging you gratefully before waving you off.

After your double period of Charms, you were sitting next to Hermione as hopeful contenders put their names into the flaming goblet. They had to cross the shimmering circle surrounding the goblet, which, according to Hermione, was an Age Line put there by Dumbledore. She opened her book in her lap while you chatted with Harry and Ron and observed who came in to enter their names.
You glanced up in surprise when you saw Angelina walk over and put her name in. You'd missed the girl over the summer, but you were relieved that she never mentioned Fred in any way other than in passing, and you never brought him up with her either. Thankfully you were able to just chat with her like you always had, with no trace of awkwardness from either side.
After she dropped her parchment into the goblet, she glanced over and saw you looking at her in confusion. She flopped down on the bench beside you, wrapping her arm over your shoulders in a friendly side-hug, "I decided to just give it a try."
"You never mentioned that you wanted to enter!" During all of your late-night conversations with her and Alicia in the dorm this week, Angelina had never shown any interest in entering.
She shrugged, "I don't think I'll get in but I just decided on an impulse, I think I realised how much I'm going to miss Quidditch this year so I decided to take a chance." You nodded in understanding and she pecked your cheek affectionately, then she got up and waved at you all as she walked out of the hall.
Shortly after, a beautiful blonde girl from Beauxbatons that Ron had been fawning after came in and gracefully walked up and placed her name in with a soft smile, and she was met with hugs by her friends as she walked away. Over the next few while, more and more people were coming into the hall to enter, as it was getting closer to the deadline.
The doors opened loudly and a group of students ran in, one of them being Cedric. He looked over at you and grinned as his friends patted him on the back encouragingly. He'd told you days before that he was planning on entering, and while he talked about it, you pretended you were happy for him when really you hoped his name wouldn't be picked. You hated the thought of your friend being in such potentially dangerous situations. At least you knew that it was very unlikely that the twins would be successful because they weren't seventeen yet, unlike Cedric who'd come of age just that week.
After he put his name in, everyone cheered and clapped and he walked towards you and sat down, Hermione was only pretending to read at this point and you could tell she was listening in eagerly. "Would you like to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?" He asked you, the adrenaline of entering his name was very clearly still running through his veins.
