I blushed, "oh."

"Yes, oh. Now calm down." He whispered.

"Why are we whispering?"

"Some have already gone to bed, it's only polite to quiet your voice." He leaned in speaking into my ear. I held my breath a bit feeling his breath on my neck.

"You know, I would think you learned what private space is by now. But I was wrong."

"I'm not even doing anything. We used to walk around the palace and hold hands. We used to fall asleep next to each other when we had sleepovers. Nothing new Amelia. Why are you being so feisty tonight?"

"I'm not!" I defended, "just... tell me where Alina's room is."

"Let me show you." He waved his hand his way telling me to follow.

We made it to the front of her room. And I bit my lip again trying to hold back the question I wanted to ask.

He looked at me annoyed, "why in the world are you biting your lip? What's stressing you out tonight?" His annoyed look changed to sincere which is something I haven't seen in him since he tried to apologize, "do you want to sleep instead? I can change who guards-"

"No. I'm fine. Just go to bed."

"Alright..." he began to walkway his back facing me.

"Why did you kiss Alina?" I blurt and immediately regret it. Frick. Frick. Frick.

He stopped still facing away from me. Oh goodness. He was dressed up from his fancy dinner with Alina and the family. -I had dinner with the crew someplace else-

He had a blue sash across his back and chest.

He ignored my question, "Alinas not in her room so you can do whatever you want until then."
That's when Tamar came bolting down the hallway.

"We have company."

Nikolai looked at me, "Let's go."

I nodded and we ran down the stairs and out the door as quickly as possible. People were lined up at the gate.

"Move! Move!" Nikolai ordered as he grabbed my hand hard and pushed us through the crew that had already made their way outside. He let go of my hand when we made it to the front.

I was more than positive he did that just because he didn't want the people to think we were together.

"We want to see the sun summoner!" One guy shouted.

"Who are you?" Nikolai she civilly.

"We are Grisha."

"Amelia!" A man yelled.

"Fedyor?!" I cried.

"Where is the Sun summoner! We don't want to see the king's lackey! You! Safin! I recognize you, where is she?"

"Nikolai listen I know some of them. They from the palace."

"Are you sure?" He looked at me sincerely.
