For NebulusCharlie
Creamy yellow, with centres red
The hibiscus flowers are blooming
A single blossom nods its
head
Proud, alone, bold, all red!Windy days, sodden nights
Small agreements, big fights
Enormous duties, tiny rights
Dense the darkness, starry lightsEvery single day is a struggle
Every single day there is strife
Each seedling rose from rubble
Every flower bud, a triumph of lifeSo many birds, so many bees
So many problems, few guarantees
The garden is huge, the field wild
Still timid, she is destiny's childThe others all alike,
no one is like her
Brother and sister
but everything does differRelatives and friends
Follow predictable trends
Every flower is yellow
Insects buzzing mellowShe cannot be among them
For she was made different,
She doesn't belong there
Her inner self incoherentThe yellows, her fellows
Stand but a branch away
Watching, waiting, cruelly hurting
Every thing must be their wayYou're Red, they said
When everyone is yellow
Listen to us, do what's right
You're young, little fellowIt is wild, the world outside
Dangers lurk every corner
Some look like people, others are goats
Stay safe here behind our moatsI am tied, want to be free
Am alone give me friends three
I spread my wings, horizons expand
I set out alone to explore my land"I was born Red", she cried
"Different but better," her tears dried
Though from parents bosom pried
I shall succeed, for I have tried! The clouds wisped away
under the crisp morning sun
The Red flower danced
Her time to fly, to run, have funShe may go to a temple
Or grace a bridal bouquet
The art of living is simple
Once you know your wayThe first steps are tough
Take courage, my Red heart
For you alone are enough!
Time to make a fresh start.
