This theory is already out there, and I'm just adding my imput, also I haven't fully finished my theory so, yeah, please keep that in mind.

Hello, I'm CC aka CheeseMuffin, and today I have a theory for ya'll.

My theory is that baizhu aka the owner of the Bubu pharmacy is actually the original dendro archon (the god of the woods) and that his Gnosis is the thing helping him stay alive along with his snake ChangSheng. 

Possible evidence

-he sounds to be older than he looks 

-he is an expert when it comes to plants

-he is unable to cure himself (and xaio said that 'mortal' medicine doesn't work on him) 

-his snake can talk (ok that's a little silly, I know)

-he possesses knowledge of plants and herbs, that is almost to an inhuman level 

|personal headcannons| note-these are my opinion and it might change

-changsheng is his sister who was turned into a snake by the celestial gods

-he got the illness from the celestial gods after he turned on them ( he learnt the truth about them) and he was left to die.

-the pyro archon (murada) had a very close relationship with him, and resurrected him with her tears but was taken away before he could wake up. 

-his ars goasha (I probably spelt that wrong) is stolius, and his true name is Daksha after the Hindu god of ritual skills and people (probably not fully accurate) 

-the celestial gods hate him and want him dead.

-He has a crush on murada
