"No. I forced you to come. Because I did something very illegal and dangerous, that I could get in trouble for, and that could ruin your hero careers if you were complicit." I tried to cover the two's asses. Which... they didn't quite like. Aizawa and Mic didn't seem too pleased either.
"So the Yakuza member told me where to find one of the guys that helped me escape Overhaul's base- his name's Nemoto- , and subsequently... Where to find the quirk destroying drug." Shouta's face fell- but he expected this.
"I made those two come with me to a Yakuza hideout... And I asked them where to find Nemoto. A bit of a brawl happened... and- I took them down myself. Because these two don't have their provisional licenses yet." Shouta scoffed.
"You fought multiple gang members by yourself... and won?" He asked sarcastically.
"Uh... yep. Pretty much." I had to leave Katsu and Todoroki out of it, because they aren't allowed to use their quirks to apprehend criminals yet. But I was...
"Fine. Whatever. Then what?" Aizawa was getting fed up.
"They basically said they'd talk to Nemoto, then he'd find me. Which he did, just before the sports festival. When I had to go look for Deku. Well, first I went to the store and asked if he saw him, and then I saw-" I froze for a moment- a slender, weak-looking
image of my mother popped into my brain.
"Never mind, not relevant. I- I stopped in a clearing in the forest on my way back to U.A., and ran into Nemoto. He shot me with what I think is the last bullet of the drug, which he stole from the Yakuza. He's on the run now... but my quirk's gone, and Eri is alive. And the situation stressed me out, and it made me feel really shit. Usually I'd reach out and- and ask for help, but I was worried I'd get in trouble for doing all this stuff. I'm sorry for causing everyone trouble." I bowed my head to the group.
"I'm glad it's over now, L/N. Hopefully the police don't make a connection between the firefight near U.A., and Eri magically getting better." Aizawa said.
"I'll tell them that the stuff Overhaul experimented on me with was just that- experimental. Nobody really knew what those injections would do... So the quirk effects I received were only temporary. And that was that."
"Okay... We'll have to talk about it more later, but... I suppose that's it." He concluded, crossing his arms.
"You- you're not mad at me?" He looked sad for a moment before answering.
"I'm upset that you risked yourself unnecessarily, and suffered in silence. If you'd been honest... I would have helped you. And so would this over-enthusiastic cockatoo." He pointed a thumb at a happy looking, nodding Hizashi.
"Really? You wouldn't be worried about, oh, I don't know, getting in trouble for trying to acquire a life-destroying drug?" I smiled slightly.
"For y- a student? Doing something important? Doing something heroic? Yes." He smirked himself.
"Okay, look, I'm glad this has come to a happy conclusion, however there is still one thing I'm confused about." Todoroki chimed in for the first time this evening.
"Why did you hug Aizawa-sensei so... intimately, when you came back after being shot? Are... are you his secret lovechild or something?" We all stared at the boy in befuddlement.
"Todoroki... We aren't even the same race... And he's only 11 years older than me..." I gripped the bridge of my nose.
"Yes, but it's entirely possible that-"
"Todoroki." Aizawa interrupted us.
"I'm in love with Y/N. We're dating. Please don't tell anyone else this." He added, as if this were a normal thing for him to say. Todoroki's eyes widened slightly. This was the most shocked I'd ever seen the kid.
"Ah... That makes sense. Congratulations, you two." He nodded- not at all fazed at learning his classmate and teacher were dating.
"Uh... Okay. Anyone else wanna add?" I prompted the boys.
"If you ever need us, any of us, we've all got your backs. Hag." Katsuki added somewhat angrily, earning hums of agreement from them all.
"Thank you, Katsu, everyone. And now, we can put this matter to rest." I tried to get up, only to be pushed back down by Shouta.
"Yeah, I don't think so. You two, get going. And you're lucky that Y/N denied your involvement in all this, so I'd better not see you discussing what happened with anyone else. Okay?" He addressed the boys. Wordlessly, they made their ways out- not before Katsu gave me a quick pat on the shoulder.
"Okay... We need to talk about you relapsing." Shouta said what I really had hoped he wouldn't.
"No thanks. Goodnight!" I tried to get up once more- yet this proved futile.
"Nice try." He pushed my shoulder down again.
"Fine! It was hard coping with it all by myself, so that ended up happening. I know I should have told you, but it was a precarious situation. I'm sorry." I avoided their eyes.
"Alright... Mic, you can get going too, I'll quickly check her arm to see if it's infected or anything. Thanks for your help." He dismissed Hizashi.
"It'll be alright, okay?" He flashed me his iconic grin.
"Thanks, 'Zashi." I watched as the door shut behind him. As soon as it shut, I felt Aizawa practically tackle me to the ground in an embrace.
"I was so fucking worried about you." He whispered into my shoulder. God, it felt awful having put him through all that.
"I'm sorry..." I replied.
"Let's... just move on from this, okay?
"...Okay."
And thus concluded one of the most anxiety-filled times of my life. My heart ached for the pain Eri was put through, the pain I'd put Shouta through, and the danger I put 2 of my best friends through. It was over now, but I'd never forget.
I lived, and I learned.
