PART THREE

⤷ TWENTY THREE; the framed innocents  ⤶

THE IMPORTANCE OF A VOICE especially a mans voice was what was needed in that gathering, to vouch for the Fier girl whose only flaw was to love that of the same gender. To tell the vile minded, misogynistic men who made the laws that it was not right to blame a girl of such atrocities; to claim her a witch.

How horrid that no one held a strong enough voice to defend Sarah fier, if only her sister was there maybe her fate would have changed.

As Selena sat patiently waiting, her demeanour cold and distance as she stared at the cold cup of milk. Ignoring the throbbing headache that was growing by the minute, fatigue bound to swallow her whole should she not get relief.

The door of her fathers home opens allowing the outside screams of villagers in the distance to enter the home, furrowing her brows at her husbands panicked expression as he enters. "Sol, what's happened?" Her tone full of worry as he closed the door behind him.

"Let us go my love." His voice left no room for argument as he guided her to the door, hurrying her for an unknown reason.

Halting as he grasped her hand firmer, looking back in confusion. "Wait. Sarah, I must tell her I am leaving." She explained looking back at the stairs.

"She's not here." He told her with frown. "Didn't you see her leave?" She shook her head in confusion at her husbands words. "Must've rushed to see Hannah." His voice wavered as he spoke making the young girl narrow her eyes.

"Sol, what aren't you tell me?" She pleaded to know as he walked down the stairs, his hand gripping hers protectively.

The screams of the towns people got louder as they passed by, Solomon shielded his wife's figure with his larger frame in worry. "Who are they looking for?" Her question went unanswered as he rushed them back home.

━ ARRIVING AT THEIR HUMBLE ABODE was surreal to Selena, her mind was befuddled at the obvious ignoring on Solomons part. As they entered their home and almost immediately Selena bombarded him with questions.

"Solomon Goode you tell me what's going on." He froze at her icy tone, the wood in his hands seeming more interesting than his wife who stood angrily watching him with confused eyes.

"The meeting was pointless. They shouted lies of a witch, Caleb of all people.." He scoffed glancing at her with a frown noticing the anxiousness growing on her face. "You do not need to worry my love, all will be well."

After starting the fire, he walked to her with adoration in his eyes though there was a gleam of distrust in them; something that remained concealed from his wife.
