Carters mind was fleeting. Every part of his body racing. The door to Danas room was open. With 3 swift strides he entered her bedroom. Her favourite song playing in the background...the lyrics describing the scene to her. "He puts her arm around his shoulder, he's just tryna lean her back up against the bathtub..." Danas arms were bleeding, as she lied crooked on her bed. "Dana!" Carter yelled both in sorrow and anger. He ran to her side. Her eyes were open her make up runny, the tear shaped blobs of diluted mascara. "Oh god...DANA NO!" He didn't know what else to say...He grabbed the sides of her waist gently pulling her up, into him. Wrapping his arms around her. The tears falling down his cheeks. "I was too late..." he could still hear a faint breath from her..."Dana! You're alive...its ok I’ll get u to the hospital you're gonna live I promise!" slowly he felt her lift her arms to his back. Wrapping them lightly around his neck. Her head flopped onto his shoulder..."It's ok Carter...let me go..." she was barely able to get the words out.. "NO ! I wont let you die Dana! I dont want u to go!..." he heard her half silent sob...as she nuzzled her cold face deeper into his shoulder. "Carter. Just hold me here...one last time...please thats all I want....I love you Carter" he had lost all control...the tears streaming down his face. She lifted her hand and began to stroke his hair. Some how calming him. "I’ll miss you so much Dana..." they just sat there. Dana half lying in his lap. "I know..I’ll never forget you..." They sobbed into each other. Carter talking to her, not once letting his hold on her go...until finally no more than a minute later when the last of the songs lyrics played "Saying to himself that it's his fault and that he let it up."Baby, I thought you made a promise you would never cut"... he felt Danas hands fall...her hand was gone from his head, no longer calming...leaving a deep emptiness. "no..." he whispered..."Not now! Not ever! Please god no!!" …..
