Chapter 43: The Reunion

Start from the beginning

You stood on your tiptoes to see if you could spot their unmissable red hair but you couldn't see them anywhere. But then the unmistakable sound of mini fireworks from a small bit down the platform followed by, "George you idiot," caught your attention and you felt a smile growing on your face. You walked down a bit and that's when you saw them standing together with their backs to you as they argued over what looked like the remnants of fireworks on the stone ground.

They were both wearing matching suits and their hair was neatly styled, and you had to smile at how grown up and professional they looked. You chuckled as you got closer and saw George reaching over to smack Fred across the back of the head while they bickered, and when he did so, his eyes met yours over Fred's shoulder and he grinned and nudged his twin, nodding in your direction.

You stopped walking as Fred turned around and your heart fluttered at how his face lit up when he saw you, as if you were the most beautiful, special thing he'd ever seen in his life. His face split into a huge grin and he ran across the platform towards you and swept you up in his arms, hugging you tightly. You giggled as he lifted you and spun you around, and you wrapped your good arm around his shoulders and buried your face into his neck, breathing in his sweet, smokey, cinnamon and fireworks scent that you'd missed while you'd been apart.

You clung onto each other without saying a word, just savouring each other's warm presence again, and then he set you down and cupped your face, "hello, darling."

He looked at you with such love that your knees grew weak and you could've fallen over and sprained your other arm if he wasn't holding onto you. "Hey, Freddie," you said as tears filled your eyes, you cupped his cheek and he turned his face to kiss your palm.

"I've missed you," he whispered earnestly and you smiled wetly up at him, blinking back tears, and then you pulled him by his tie into a kiss which he grinned into as he held you closer to him. You didn't care who was watching as he kissed you eagerly, and you carded your fingers through his hair as you breathed each other in. He pulled back and looked at you, tracing his thumb lightly under the gash on your head and you could tell that he so badly wanted to say something about you being reckless or something, but George wasted no time in coming to your rescue as he swept you into a bear hug, careful not to squeeze your injured arm.

"Well if it isn't the Ministry's latest young offender herself," George said while he hugged you, and then he pulled back and crossed his arms as he grinned proudly at you, his eyes glinting mischievously.

"Shut up, George. I kicked some serious arse in there, I'll have you know," you stuck your chin out proudly and Fred wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you back into his chest, hugging you from behind. "We don't doubt that you did, love. We would've stormed the place looking for you if McGonagall hadn't sent an owl to Mum as soon as you got back to the castle," he said as he pressed a kiss into your hair.

You chuckled, "yeah apparently I was completely running on adrenaline and I just passed out as soon as I hit the hospital bed."

"I'm not surprised, from what McGonagall briefly told Mum in the letter, you all went through a lot," Fred said and then his face fell, "I can't believe that Sirius..." he trailed off and he and George shared a sad look.

"We can catch up later, we've a lot to talk about," George said as he picked up your trunk while Fred unstrapped Lyra's empty cage from the top.

"Did you lose your owl?" he asked, puzzled and you chuckled as you took his outstretched hand in his, "no, I sent her ahead of us to the Burrow."

"But we're not-" George began but he was interrupted by Fred who raised his eyebrows pointedly at his twin.

"Oi! Come on, let's find the others," Fred said quickly and before you could ask what that was about, he and George led you across the platform to where the rest of the Weasleys stood with Harry and Hermione not too far away and Mrs Weasley perked up as she saw you approaching.

She ran over to you and fussed over your injuries and then hugged you affectionately, "oh Y/N, dear, I'm so glad you're alright. I almost lost my life when I got Minerva's owl, and Sirius...oh dear." She welled up and hugged you again, and you saw Mr Weasley giving Harry a supportive squeeze on the shoulder as the boy observed the scene and bowed his head sadly.

She pulled back and stared fondly at you and she patted your cheek, "make sure the three of you come over for dinner often, alright, dear?"

"What? But I thought we were going to the Burrow with you?" you asked her and she glanced over at the twins who were engaged in a conversation with the others, then she smiled at you, "I'll let them fill you in, you'll be glad to know that I've come around to the idea of their business venture, though I'll be happier when I see it running successfully."

"Oh, well, I sent Lyra to the Burrow because I thought we were going too," you admitted and she waved you off, "I'll take care of her, dear. She's a quiet little thing, no trouble at all! And I think Errol likes the company." You smiled gratefully at her and she patted your cheek again fondly and then looked over to the twins, "Fred, George, we best be off, see you soon?" They grinned down at her and each gave her a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"See you soon, Mum," they said in unison and you said your goodbyes to the others as well, all of you promising to write to each other frequently. Hermione hugged you tightly and told you she'd miss you but she'd keep in touch like she always did, and after saying her goodbyes to the others, she went to look for her parents. Harry hugged you for longer than he usually would, and you told him to reach out if he needed you and then you ruffled his hair while he gave you a small smile.

You hugged Ron and Ginny, and waved to Molly and Arthur before they left, and then you turned to the twins. "So, we're not going to the Burrow?" You asked and they shared a look and then grinned at you.

"Not today," George told you with a mischievous look on his face. "We've somewhere else we'd like to show you first," Fred elaborated as he took your hand in his.

"The shop?" you exclaimed excitedly and George laughed at your enthusiasm, "that's one part of it, yes. We've been fixing up the interior a bit and making floor plans for the display, we've also met with potential suppliers and we're hoping to have our grand opening in a couple of weeks."

"We wanted your input on a few things, if you want to come along?" Fred gave you a cheeky wink and you chuckled, "of course I want to come along, is that even a question?"

George took hold of your trunk once again and turned to you both, "let's go then! Ready Fred?"

"Ready George. Ready, Y/N?" He grinned down at you and kissed your temple.

"Ready, boys," you said happily as you squeezed Fred's hand and they whisked you away to Diagon Alley, where the next chapter of your life was about to begin.
