Chapter 1: Everything begins somewhere

"See I told you I'd catch you, Pow-Pow" Y/n laughed and playfully nudged Powders side causing the girl to nudge her back. The group contained their track to find themselves shuffling along the edge of a building , backs pressed in hopes not to fall. 

"What if Vander finds out we're all the way up here?" Claggor worried 

"Look around you. You think anyone topsides going hungry? Besides, this is exactly the sort of job Vander would've pulled when he was our age." Vi countered. They finally made it towards the end of the ledge, Vi stared them down. "I'm going. Are you with me or not?"

Claggor looked towards Mylo, only for him to shrug. "Vanders gonna kill us." He sighed

"Yeah, but only if we screw up." Y/n pointed out from the back, holding onto Powder and using her tail for slight support. 

Vi pointed to her with a nod, "So don't screw up." She smirked dropping down and swinging into the patio of the apartment, checking for signs of anyone present. "All clear" the rest began dropping down.

Mylo groaned, "who locks their balcony?" He pulled out his lock picking key and began working on the door

Vi glanced around impaintantly "you gonna get the door open any time soon?  

"Working on it" Mylo grumbled roughly pulling the key out, "Seeing as I'm the only one here who knows how to pick locks-" Y/n loudly coughed over the boy with a glare. Vi no longer waiting kicked open the door and walked in. 

They all looked around the room. Books filled shelves which Y/n ran straight to scanning the bindings for anything of interest she could take. Everyone else began to grab anything that looked of value and dumped it into the bag in the middle.

"Must be an inventor" vi glanced towards the chalk board with writing.

"Jackpot" Y/n mumbled pulling out three books, one which seemed to be a journal of some sorts. The girl walked over towards Powder who spotted the Valdiani.

"Woah, I think this is a real Valdiani." She poked the top of it to open and showcase a spinning planet, she stared in awe as Y/n watched smiling at Powders expression, the moment taken away from Mylo.

"Oh yeah? What about this?" He swiped forward the metallic object with a small claw at the end like a sword. 

"That's a nose hair trimmer." Powder said bluntly, unimpressed

Vi looked over the bag "keep an eye out for anything that looks valuable you two. Before, Mylo fills the bag with junk." She looked at the boy playing with the nose hair trimmers causing him to toss the tool aside. 

Powder placed down the Valdiani and began wondering off. Y/n glanced back at the blue object then back to Powder retreating form before grabbing it and placing it into her small pouch attached to her thigh, feeling it weigh down the cloth. 

She wanted to gift it to Powder instead of it being sold off like the rest of the stuff. Holding onto the books she grabbed, Y/n followed off to where Powder had gone finding her attempting to open up a metal box. 

The h/c leaned over and pushed the button placed on the side of the box, with a loud click the lid slid open revealing six shining blue crystals.

"Woah" they whispered

Powder picked up one examining it, mesmerizing by its glow. The two stared for a moment before they hear VI's hushed urgent voice

"Powder, Y/n we gotta go!" The outside door shook as a mans voice spoke from the outside with loud knocking. The two began to pick up the crystals slipping them into their pockets as they rushed out the door, not noticing the one they dropped.
