Chapter four: deep blue

Start from the beginning

"Uncle Aaron!!"

His bare hand came crashing into the clean window, "Hey! Were you scared??" The boy then smushed his face all over the glass and made incoherent noises, saying things you couldn't understand.

"That's disgusting..."

You just stand there, arms crossed, waiting for Aaron to get up and let you both in. This was something Miles did every time he came to his uncle's place. You were used to it, he was used to it. That doesn't mean it was any less disgusting. The man finally gets up and makes his way over to the window.

Just as the window lifts you push Miles out of the way and rush in before him. It wasn't a hard push, Miles was just slightly shoved out of the way so he was okay.

"Uncle Aaron!" As soon as you're through the window your arms found Aaron's neck and your legs found his waist. You used the window seal as your boost and sprung up at him. He let out a rough ugh as your weight dropped in his arms, and he chuckled.

He caught you with a bemused smile.

To say you loved this man like he was your Uncle was an understatement. He was your Uncle. No doubt about it. You wouldn't trade him for the world.

Aaron was used to this by now, you did this every time you saw him, never missing the opportunity to give that man a bear hug. You were his little girl, the daughter he never had. He never once failed to catch you. Even though, through the years you've gotten older and bigger.

This man was a glorified slender man where was this hidden strength coming from? You told yourself not to stress over it. As long as he could hold you he knew he would.

"What's up ma'? How you been?" He set you down and asked, you walked over to the couch as he walked to the kitchen to get you something to eat. He knew you, he didn't have to ask if you were hungry, of course, you were.

And Aaron's food was the best.

But all the while Miles stood in the very same place you both came in mouth his mouth open like a gaping fish. This also happened every time. He was being dramatic like always, he whined as he made his way to the same couch, arms crossed and a pout on his cute face.

"Y'know the usual. School, and babysitting Miles." You answered.

Your brown eyes found his figure as he sat next to you and you smiled softly, "Miles." The boy still had a frown on his face but this time he was fighting it, and he was losing. You scooted over to him, closing the space made between the two of you.

Once you got within arms reach of him the first thing you did was poke him in his side. Miles jerked away from your hand violently, he hated when you did that. The boy looked over at you with questioning and offended eyes.

You just shrugged your shoulders, "What?" Miles scoffed at your attempt to make him smile, the boy turned away from you. It had worked. He didn't want you to know that though.

After moments of silence, you poke the boy in his leg, "Miles." He doesn't reply so you did it again, and again, and again. It was after the sixth poke that he caught your finger and slowly turned to you.

"Yes, Y/n?"

You smile at your success, and it reaches your eyes, "Nothing." And you pull your hand out of his grasp. He shakes his head in amusement. He never got bored with you. Something he always admired.

This was something you did often, it wasn't new, and it wasn't odd. You showed your love for your best friend, you weren't afraid to show it. But Miles's face blooms into a dark scarlet red, it never fails to do that. You knew he wasn't in a sour mood anymore. You always made sure that Miles knew you were there, there for him.
