"You got through that pretty easily," Link noted as he stepped off the first bridge and directed you to the next one.

"Hah, trust me; I'm dying inside."

Your response was met with a sudden laugh before Link composed himself to say, "Now that's overly dramatic, don't you think?" The boy's lips turned into an innocent smirk, but you didn't stop yourself from eyeing him with a look that caused him to grin and potentially regret poking fun at you. "Sorry, can't help it."

You only shook your head with a smile and gestured for him to continue, which he did. While the bridges gradually led you higher up, the wind became cooler as the village you had gazed upon moments before neared. There was one more bridge to take, but upon crossing, a Rito guard stretched the spear it had in its hand to stop Link and you from reaching a set of stairs that wrapped around the tall rocks of Rito Village.

"Stop," the Rito guard said as he stepped out from behind a tree. The guard's eyes narrowed as he looked down at the two of you with little interest. "Hylians? Strange, not many of you come here."

As the guard lowered his weapon, you looked over his avian figure, taking in the colour of his feathers and bird-like form. Course you had seen Rito's throughout your travel, but never up close. Just mere glimpses of them flying high up in the sky.

"You'll have to excuse the use of my weapon. I'm afraid we're not exactly in a welcoming mood," he said, picking at a certain part of his spear before placing the end against the ground.

"Why's that?" You felt prompted to ask, at which case Vah Medoh released a shrilling noise. The ground shook slightly before the Divine Beast fell silent once again.

"The Divine Beast," The guard answered, tone close to one of annoyance. He gazed up at the flying machine with a sneer, only to glance back down and shake his head. "Few of our warriors flew up to check it out months ago but were shot down. Stupid piece of machine... not sure what's so divine about it."

"That's actually why we're here," Link spoke, earning the sudden gaze of the tall Rito guard. "We've come to appease the Divine Beast."

"Appease the Divine Beast?" The guard questioned, clearly unsure if the words of Link were truthful or not. With a look that could only be explained as one of intense analysation, the guard stepped to the side and made a gesture to the stairs. "Hmm, there's been talk of a Hylian appeasing other Divine Beasts across these parts... I'm not sure if you're the one people have been talking of but if you are, I implore you to head to the top of the village and seek out the village leader, Kaneli."

"Kaneli," you repeated, glancing toward the stairs that curved high around the tall rock and lead to several wooden huts. All of them were open air, but from where you stood, you could barely make out what most of the huts contained.

"Okay, thank you," Link said to the Rito guard, nodding his head toward him and moving along your side as you started to walk up the stairs. Chilling air whisked around as the two of you reached one of the first platforms of the village, which served as an entrance to a few huts. "Hey, a food shop."

"No." You grabbed Link's hand before he had the chance to slip into the hut and tugged him along. Your action caused the boy to quietly groan and look toward the shop as you led him away. "We'll pass by afterwards."

Link snorted, knowing that meant it would be a while before he could indulge himself in the new food Rito Village had to offer. He didn't put many protests toward it, though, which made him wonder if that meant there was some maturity on his part. "Fine," he exasperated, though the longing for a meal was clear in his eyes.

"You ate an hour ago," You noted.

"Yeah, it's been an eternity."

"Goddesses," You mumbled to yourself, finding no willpower to stop a little smile from appearing on your lips. His dumb remarks often had that effect, not that you minded anyway. It worked in your favour, smiling at his joking statement, as it helped you ignore the slight burn in your legs as you started up yet another flight of stairs.
