"Hey, Sleepyhead wake up! Or sleep and miss your Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony." I shot straight up almost banging my head against a rather angry-looking Elindel."Sorry, I'm up!" I said bouncing out of bed giving him a quick peck on the cheek his face instantly turning bright red.
"W-W-What was that for?!"
"I can't give my big brother a good morning kiss?" I teased and he gave me an eye roll as he turned around walking out of my room. Four years had gone by in the blink of an eye. It had been hard to adjust and they trained me in both magic and combat. Elindel and I had not gotten along at first. We didn't see eye to eye until Inda got really sick one season. We ended up finding out on one of her trips to the heart kingdom she had gotten cursed by a devil. Elindel and I started working together for her after that. Inda must have gone into town since Elindel woke me up. Making my way into the kitchen Elindel sat at the table reading a book.
"Hey isn't your birthday tomorrow?" I asked him and he looked up from his book.
"Congratulations you are correct."
"I swear when Inda isn't around you get so damn sarcastic."
"Says the Princess who cusses like a peasant."
"So your grimoire has a heart on it, right?"
"Yeah most of us have hearts but a few have clovers. It depends on where you get yours from really. They always have a symbol on them depicting where they are from." I nodded polishing off my breakfast.
"Ah, are you going to tell Inda about Emma?" I notice him flinch and then a sigh can be heard across the room.
"Yeah but the situation is a bit more complicated. You need to head out." I nodded my head and went to the door.
"I'll be back!"
"Yeah yeah," Elindel said waving me off and going back to his book.
I took off down to the village running past a few people on the way getting yells of encouragement.
"Anna!" I look toward the tower and see Inda standing there with a big smile.
"Inda I thought you were working?"
"I was but they told me they canceled the ceremony so I walked over to see you."
"What why?!" She chuckled and pointed to the door that was wide open Feris was waving at me like a mad man with a big grin on his face.
"You're the only kid around here of age. Little Addrin doesn't get his grimoire for another 14 years. So just go in and get one!" I nodded and left Inda at the entrance of the tower meeting Feris at the door.
"You ready kid?" I nodded and he pushed me inside closing the door behind me.
"Good luck Anna!"
I had expected him to come in with me, he didn't and the place got dark fast. Being the only one here feels kinda creeping. The grimoires in here have layers of dust on them. I walk into the center of the room and the books suddenly started flying around me. Some had simple covers some had elaborate designs but none of them stopped for me. Slowly they put themselves back into place and a pretty teal one with an elaborate design floated into my hands. It felt like it was a part of me and would float whenever I pulled on my mana. taking the book in my hands I looked at the front cover and notice there was no symbol. okay much be on the back then. Flipping the book over there was no symbol there either. nothing showed what kind of magic I had or where it had come from. I had a sinking feeling in my chest but made my way out of the tower.
