When the three girls arrived at the convenience store they saw a rusty old blood red motorcycle in the tight parking lot. Sora pointed it out thinking it was cool but Kait was quick to tell her that riding a bike like that was practically asking to either get pregnant with a stranger's child or to die. The small golden bell rang when the three girls walked through the door of the store and a bored looking boy wearing a green cap with the store's logo on it turned his head and nodded once in acknowledgement. Sora pulled a frog-like smile at the employee and turned to an aisle that Kaito and Chika were headed to.
"He's cute." Kaito remarked looking at the guy.
"Not my type." Ichika joked. Sora giggled but Kait just shook her head at her sisters.
"Obviously not. Your type is girls. I was talking to Sora. Don't you think he's cute, Sora?" Kaito raised her eyebrows at the middle sister.
"Shut up, Kait, he can probably hear you." The golden eyed girl whisper-shouted. But The oldest girl just raised those eyebrows even more. "Yeah, I mean he isn't terrible looking. Happy?" She answered the question. He actually was really handsome. Tall, and pale. The left half of his hair was a vibrant red and the right side was snowy white. It also looked like he had a huge reddish scar over one of his eyes. Nonetheless, there was a beautiful air about him.
Shoto Todoroki hated his job at the convenience store. He hated that even though nobody ever came in his boss gave him all the shifts. He hated that they were always out of what people were looking for, which made him look bad. He wanted to buy himself a new motorcycle, so he got this job a few months ago.
He was just stocking up some shelves when he heard the quiet ringing of the bell that indicated someone had walked in. He turned around to greet them like he usually did, but the first thing he saw was a tall fragile looking girl walking in with two other shorter girls trailing after her. She wore a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a black hoodie. There was nothing special about how she looked, but her eyes meeting his made him unable to speak. He nodded instead of saying good morning and immediately turned back around, blushing way too much. It must have something to do with her quirk. She must be able to mute people by making eye contact. Yes, that's exactly what happened. She obviously used her power to fluster him.
He occasionally glanced over at the small group of girls being careful not to get caught looking at the girl who had the long dark brown hair and light yellow looking eyes.
Chika was giggling at how the tall boy wearing the cap kept gazing at her older sister.
"Hey, Sora! Mr not terrible looking keeps staring at you. Oh my god, he's blushing too!" She murmured to the tall brunette. Sora's head tilted a tiny bit hearing those words. She swiftly looked over at the handsome boy for a split second and he was indeed looking in this direction.
"No way. He's probably looking at Kait." She whispered back. Ichika huffed and her shoulders sagged in disappointment. She was sure that the guy was looking at Sora. But then they perked up again excitedly when she got an idea.
"Then I dare you to be the one who goes to the cash register." She suggested slyly.
"And what if we don't buy anything?" Sora insinuated sarcastically. Ichika wracked her brain frantically and grabbed a pack of gum from a shelf.
"Buy this." She ordered, grinning foolishly. Sora took a large breath and snatched the gum just to make her sister happy. Strutting over to the cash register, she saw the tall boy standing behind the counter with his back to her. She stopped when she was feet away from him and gently placed the gum onto the counter. Sora cleared her throat to get his attention and watched the young guy quickly snap his neck around to look her in the eye, but the moment they made eye contact, he looked down at the gum. Without saying a single word to each other he rang it in and she paid the seventy five cents. Why wouldn't he look at her? His cheeks were so obviously painted pink, so Chika was right about that. But he didn't look or talk to her. A moment later the girls decided to leave the store and just to put him even more to the test, Sora called out for him to have a good day, but the bicoloured haired boy didn't look up from his shoes.
"I told you, Chika! He was probably looking at Kaito and was disappointed when I came to the register." Sora laughed when Ichika wouldn't stop bugging her about the store employee.
"No way, he was looking at you. He probably wouldn't talk because the poor boy was nervous. You know I hate to admit it but you are a very beautiful girl, it isn't surprising that that guy would get shy around you." Kaito argued calmly. She kept her chin up and her eyes down like always, explaining her opinion like it was the only right one in the world. But the compliment was kind and positive, which contrasted from Kait's usual sophisticated and cold tone.
The three sisters entered their house to see their father eating a sandwich at the dark wooden table, and across the house and through a window, Sora had a view of her mother smoking a long white cigarette. She knew Asa would get sick at some point from what those things did to her body, but she couldn't bring herself to try and convince her mother to stop. To her, the woman standing on the back balcony was perfect. In every way, she was perfect. Of course Sora knew her mother was far from it, but it has nothing to do with her mother! It isn't her fault her marriage is falling apart, it's the cigarettes' fault. Asa was a beautiful innocent woman until the cancer sticks took over her life. She fell in love with a perfect man and they had three perfect daughters. It's the smoke's fault Sora's parents no longer loved each other. Her parents would still be in love if Asa's friend hadn't given her that tube of tobacco five years ago. Her mother was still innocent... She was still perfect...
Then the four people inside the house heard a distant thump. Everyone looked around, confused for a moment before Ichika yelped at the sight of a figure sprawled on the back porch. Sora's eyes widened seeing her mother and watched her father run outside and began frantically shaking Asa Miura, but she wouldn't wake up. The three sisters could hear him repeatedly saying his wife's name trying to snap her back to reality. But then everything went in slow motion and she watched a tear slowly fall down Kait's face, as if the world was moving ten times slower... Oh, Sora thought. She caught her breath and everything went back to normal and Kaito's tear fell onto the collar of her shirt at normal speed. She'd been slowing down time by accident. All three of the daughters looked at each other with scared looks on their faces but none of them were brave enough to go outside to where their mother had passed out and their father was terrified out of his mind.
He knew this would happen. If she would've just listened to him none of this would've happened.
Shoto Todoroki woke up a week after the day he saw that girl at the store. He couldn't stop thinking about her for the first few days after the incident. But now, she only occasionally popped into his mind, and he no longer blushed while her smiling face was dancing around his thoughts. His older brother Natsuo had said that they were going to find her today, but Shoto was barely interested in finding out who she was anymore.
He grumbled and wiped his heterochromatic eyes and slowly lifted himself off of his bed. His father was out of town for a few days so the youngest Todoroki boy was actually happy to get the day started. He usually hates it because his time is always spent training. But if no one is going to tell him what to do, he might as well hang out and be an idiot with his siblings. Making his way downstairs he saw his sister Fuyumi sitting on top of a kitchen counter eating cereal. She waved instead of saying hello for she had a mouth full of cheerios at the moment. Once she swallowed she put her bowl down and jumped off the counter to sit beside her little brother at the table.
"So Natsuo tells me you're gonna find the mystery girl today." She raised her eyebrows and smiled, interested. "Natsuo's just making fun of me. I don't wanna find her anymore anyway." He shook his head dryly. "And don't call her 'the mystery girl'. It's weird." He declared to his sister's offence.
"When did you get so boring? Did father suck the little boy out of you?" The older girl joked but regretted it right away. She knew Shoto didn't enjoy talking about Enji Todoroki like he was more than just the man who trained the shit out of him when he was just a small child. The two siblings fell into an awkward silence after the younger boy shot his sister an ugly look. Luckily, as if on queue, Natsuo Todoroki walked down the stairs.
"Hey little bro. Excited to find your mystery girl today?" He grinned and Fuyumi chuckled while Shoto rolled his eyes at the two older siblings.
