Rose
••••••••••"Is the silencer indeed?" I asked myself as I sat there in the back of a jeep.
I was inspecting my weapon which was a standard MP5 with all sorts of customization suited for a stealth mission which was never really my style.
"Yes it is. I want you to consider this training camp all over again."
Michael's annoying loveable voice roared in my ear as I was mumbling to myself.
"What?!"
"You've been a real walking warzone lately Rose, I need you to actually tone it the fuck down for once."
"But it's what I do best."
"Your best is something that can't always work and will get you killed, there are always other ways to handle things."
"Alright alright...fuck.."
The rest of the ride went by in silence as I screwed on the silencer on the gun until something worth talking about came to mind.
"So which one is it?"
I asked Mike as I lean back and rest against the sorry excuse of leather on the back support of the seat. Staring up above at the beautiful night sky with the exception of numerous unpleasant noises all around me.
"What?"
"Those girls...it can't just all be 'happy good old friendship' can it?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"You have a thing for one of them don't you~? Or all of them..if you're really into that stuff."
"Ok first of all what the fuck. Secondly I don't think it's safe to tell you anything about them cus you'll just go and try to kill them."
"Oh come onnnn I'm not a monster. I've taken a liking to those girls myself. They've got fire~"
"That's not how they used to be..."
You don't have to be a therapist to understand that sadness in his voice. I cool down my tease for a moment,
"Michael you can't blame them for changing.."
"I'm not...but it doesn't help with dealing with that thought. I could have been there for them that day...we could have found them together and they wouldn't have had to go through all of this...hell alone."
"We had no choice...it was too risky and-"
"I strictly remember you saying 'it wasn't worth the risk'."
"I-.."
He'd hear him sigh on the other end before he finally spoke up again but this time with a more softer tone.
"Sorry...we really can't afford distracting ourselves with stuff like this."
"It's alright...I'm nearing the LZ anyway. Might have to switch off for a bit."
"Alright. Remember we are your eyes now too, you'll be observing more than shooting tonight so only shoot to kill if you're compromised, clear?
"Roger..."
"Good, H.Q out."
After ending the transmission I let out a long sigh which helped ease the tension on my chest.
