The sun filtered into Evangeline's bedroom through the curtains, causing the princess to stir in her sleep. Tired blue eyes opened to meet the brightening world. "Hello, Insol," she muttered with a smile, staring out at the rising star. Normally she would roll over and fall back asleep, but the excitement of the Jedi discouraged those thoughts.
Saorise wouldn't be in for the next hour. Typically if Eve was up early because of nightmares or other dreams, she would sit by the window and wait for her maid to come and get her ready for the day. It was a peaceful, quiet time that she used to spend time communing with her patron deity, Vespat.
Vespat was one of the elder deities of Aetherius, but in Eve's opinion, they were also the kindest. They were the deity of wealth, happiness, and good cheer and were a common patron amongst the Aetherians. Eve felt lucky, however; no one in the history of the royal family had been a patron for Vespat. That made her bond with the kind deity that much stronger.
The hour passed quickly. Saorise knocked twice on the door to alert the princess that she would be entering, and she smiled seeing the princess sitting on the window seat watching the sunrise.
"Insol has outdone themselves today, haven't they?" Saorise mused, opening the doors to the wardrobe, assuming the princess and her Jedi protector would be going out into the city today.
"Indeed they have," Eve responded, still gazing out across the landscape. "And Lunox kept everyone safe throughout the night."
Saorise hummed in agreement. One simply could not praise one deity and leave the other out. Insol and Lunox were a pair, and by praising one, the other received the same praise. "Kaltain said he would wake Obi-Wan. He'll be here shortly."
The princess moved from the window seat to the wardrobe, waiting patiently for her maid to finish picking out what pieces she would wear today. Saorise settled on a simple day dress that would be comfortable enough to walk around in and wouldn't get trampled over by the people walking around her. Dresses like this didn't take very long to put on, and by the time Obi-Wan arrived at the princess's bedroom door, Saorise was almost finished with Evangeline's hair.
"Come in," Saorise called, and the door hesitantly pushed open a minute later, causing the girls to giggle. "Good morning, Mister Kenobi."
"Good morning," he bowed slightly out of respect to the princess. "I hope that you slept well?"
"As well as anyone," she responded, thanking Saorise when she was finished with her hair. "Breakfast is being served in the dining hall, if you wish to grab something to eat before we head out this morning?"
The padawan shook his head. He didn't have an appetite. "I'll ask Louisa to prepare a picnic basket for you to take on your outing." Saorise chimed in. A picnic later did sound quite lovely.
"Thank you, Saorise." The maid bowed and left the princess's quarters, and not long after the other two stepped into the corridor. Eve turned on her heel and headed in the opposite direction of the stairwell, causing Obi-Wan to turn and catch up with her.
"Where are we going?" he asked once he was by her side, matching her stride almost immediately.
"The library. If you're going to learn about Aetherius, then it would be beneficial to be able to reference texts, wouldn't it?"
Obi-Wan chuckled and nodded. "That is a wise assumption, Evangeline."
She came to a stop in front of another pair of large, dark doors that matched the ones on the floors below that led to the courtyard. The doors opened and bookshelves lined the circular room. The ancient chandelier barely lit the space, but the stained glass windows on the ceiling filtered in rays of different colored light. Tables in the center of the room allowed visitors a place to sit while they read.
