A protected love ~Newt and Y/N~ maze runner

Y/n pov:

I woke up later that usual, a lot later. I sat up in the bed only to see that I was alone. It was nice of newt to let me sleep in, I thought. I got up and went to have a shower. When I got out of the bathroom, I saw newt leaning against the doorframe that lead outside.

He walked over to me and kissed my forehead. "Morning, love." He said into my hair. "Sleep well?"

"It was actually better than usual. I must've been tired yesterday." I replied.

"Good that." He said. "Now I know this would be really awkward but I need you to keep an eye on Teresa today."

"Really? Why me? There's like fifty other guys in the glade."

"Well I think she'd be more comfortable with you. Think about it, you're both girls in a glade full of nothing but hormonal teenage boys and you're strong independent women who are extremely fierce when you want to be."

"Fine. What am I helping her with?"

"She's keeping an eye on Alby today so I thought you two could get to know each other a bit more and maybe become friends. You could even do each other's hair and all that other girly stuff."

"I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. I'll pack my hair stuff." I have newt a kiss on the lips and went back to the bathroom. I grabbed my hairbrush, hair ties and a bunch of hair moisturiser stuff.

I walked over to the medjack hut and cautiously walked inside. I saw the black haired girl sitting beside a sleeping Alby. She turned to the door and was shocked at my presence.

"Y-y/n. I'm so sorry about yesterday. I was just scared and I didn't know who I could trust or what was happening. I didn't mean to yell at you, please forgive me." She pleaded.

"It's okay. Living with about fifty other boys for three years has taught me to give them second chances, you're no exception to that." I replied.

"Really?"

"Yeah, of course. You're one of us now. Once a glader, always a glader."

"Thank you, thank you." Teresa hugged me and I didn't hesitate to hug back. I'm glad there's finally another girl her that I can talk to.

~time skip~

Teresa and I had spent hours in the medjack hut, taking and doing each other's hair. Teresa was putting my hair up in a bun while asking me about the glade. "So how did you know that Gally was your brother? Were you stung?"

"I woke up with him in the box and just knew somehow." I replied.

"Interesting...There, done." Teresa said once she finished my hair. I turned around to face her and she gave me a look like she was deep in thought. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"Something's missing..." she pulled two strands of hair down the side of my face and smiled at her work. "Perfect!" She exclaimed. We both burst into laughter at how serious Teresa was with my hair.

A groan then came from the bed beside us. I looked to the bed and saw Alby awake. "Alby!" I squealed in delight at seeing my friend. I gave him a big hug which he returned. "We'll go and get the boys." I said once I let him go.

I walked out the door of the med hut and felt the ground shake. What the hell? I thought. Teresa was at my side and pointed at the large group of boys in the centre of the glade. "This can't be good." I muttered.

We ran to the boys and saw Thomas and Gally yelling at each in the middle. "Hey, guys." Teresa said loudly, trying to get their attention. Unfortunately the boys just ignored her and continued fighting.

"Let me try." I said. "If you want their attention then you have to show dominance and power. They're just like animals, they will only listen if you make them."

"Worth a shot." She replied.

I turned back to the boys and took in a deep breath. "OI SHUT IT YOU SLINTHEADED SHANKS!" I yelled, making all attention go to me. "FOR ALL THOSE SHUCKFACES WHO CARE, ALBY IS AWAKE AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIS FRIENDS!" They all looked at one another and Thomas, Minho, newt and Gally all ran to the medjack hut.

"I did not know you could do that." Teresa said from beside me.

"Like I said, power and dominance. Works every time." I replied, impressed with myself. We both then ran after the boys.

When we got there, we only heard the least part of their conversation. "You were always their favourite, Thomas. Why are you here?" Alby said, his voice showing how tired he is. We then heard a commotion from outside and gave each other worried looks. Everyone ran outside except Alby and were really confused. Winston ran towards us holding a torch with a fearful expression on his face.

"Winston, what's going on?" I asked.

"It's the maze doors." He panted. "They aren't closing."

Oh crap.
