The last two days had been a nightmare. I have still yet to hear from Hex or the prison and I wonder how long it'll be before I do or if I'll hear anything at all. They might just keep him contained to his cell until he has to go to court which means he won't have any access to the prison phones.

Harley and I had kept in constant contact as we both wait for contact from Hex. I feel like I'm dying, I hadn't slept well since Hex was taken away and I'm scared I won't until he's back and who knows when that will be.

It's Monday today and I had been up since the early morning hours. I had been dressed in my Darby's uniform earlier but I had taken it back off. I was in no mood to go to work, especially on such little sleep. Besides, Harley said Stevie would understand, as he had watched the whole thing go down at Club Rosa. As for Jacob, I hadn't heard a word from him, not like I was expecting one. I was nervous to go back to work and see him after everything had happened but now I have no problem going back, as long as he stays away and doesn't try to interact with me, we'll have no problems. My mind only thinks about Hex and has no room for anything else at the moment.

Hex should also be going to work today but obviously he's not and I have to call the mechanic shop to inform them on what has happened. That's another stressor, will they fire him? It'll be hard to get him another job with his record.

I had picked up Hex's phone along with his other personal items from the police station before I left without him the other night. He'd had some texts from Clyde and I felt bad that no one was texting him back but I didn't want to pretend to be Hex, besides I have to call him now anyway to say Hex won't be in for the next two weeks.

I take a deep breath, unsure how Clyde will take being a worker down and pray to god he doesn't fire Hex.

"Hexy boy! 'Bout time you got back to me" he sounds enthusiastic and for the first time in days I nearly laugh as a smile pulls at my lips. Hexy boy? Does he call Hex that to his face? Is that why Hex gets so annoyed with him?

"Uh, is this Clyde?" I ask; there's silence on the other end for a moment.

"This ain't Hex, who are you little lady?" his country accent is thick and hard to understand in some words as they mesh together but he sounds friendly enough.

"I'm Poppy Hart, Hex's Darling" I answer as I lean on the island and glance out the window above the sink that shows the sun that had only appeared over the trees twenty minutes ago.

"Ah, yes. Hex's missus" Hex had told him about me? The thought surprises me. Hex is a very private person, especially when it comes to me. Not for bad reasons, he just doesn't want anyone knowing our business so the fact that he told Clyde about me must mean he trusts him to some extent.

"I'm just calling to let you know that Hex, u-um, he got into a bit of trouble over the weekend and won't be in for the next two weeks" I say, hoping that it comes across well and will be received well.

"Ah fuck" I wince when he swears, fearing he'll be angry "what has that kid got himself into now?" he asks. I realise he's not angry and more so disappointed in Hex.

"He, uh, violated his parole" I explain. I pray he doesn't want more details, this isn't my story to tell.

"Goddamn" he grunts "alright darl, let me know if I can do anything for the kid. He's free to have as much time off as he needs but he'll have to make it up to me" Clyde exclaims. My chest swells when he talks fatherly.

"Thank you so much Clyde, I'm sure he'll love to make it up to you" I say, not entirely sure he would actually love it.

"I'm sure he will, sweetheart" Clyde chuckles, knowing Hex, in fact, won't love it. "Goodbye" I say goodbye back and hang up. My shoulders drop only an inch in relief that Clyde had taken that so well. It's a tiny weight lifted off my shoulders.
