The color is fitting for our January wedding.
I should have known it was the color of my eyes, the same eyes the boys share with me.
Knox and Kohl come down the aisle, wearing the same thing that Catch is and then they go stand next to him. We didn't want them to be left out of the wedding.
Rory comes walking down the aisle with her father, Jim, just as the chorus of the song starts.
I'll be yours 'til the end of time
In every other life, I'll be yours
I'll be yours in the rain or fire
And on the other side, I'll be yours
Gosh, does she look absolutely beautiful. Rory has her curly hair down, and with no call on her head, just something holding the pieces of hair that normally frame her face held back. Her dress fits her perfectly. It's simple. Her ivory colored dress has thin straps and the top part to her waist is made of lace and then the bottom that sort of flares out looks to be made of stain. In her hand is a bouquet of black eyed anemones.
She told me what her favorite flowers were called a million and one times, which is the only reason why I know what they are.
Her father and her come to a stop right in front of me.
"Who gives this woman away to this man?" The minister asks.
"I do," Jim looks like he's about to cry. I can't blame him. I will be the same way when my daughter gets married someday.
My daughter.
My smile seems to get even bigger when I think about Finley. I can't help it, I'm excited.
Jim places his daughter's hand in my own and Rory comes to stand in front of me. Jim goes back to his seat, then the minister starts to talk.
"We are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony."
I zone out what the minister is saying, my mind on one thing, well other than my future wife, that is.
I can't do this.
"What?" Rory asks, and then I realized I said that out loud, going off the gasping of the people in the pews.
"I'm sorry Rory, but I have something to say first." I turn to face everyone in the church and say what I've been wanting to say for a while now. "Just recently, we found out Rory's pregnant with a little girl."
Everyone cheers and offers some form of congratulations. I feel a hard punch to my ribs and I wince in pain, and look towards a kind of angry Rory.
I know she's not upset about me telling everyone since we did plan to tell everyone later today. I just couldn't wait. I have been basically bursting at the seams to tell everyone and their dog, cat, and mouse.
"I thought you were about to say you didn't want to get married anymore, you jerk!" I laugh and pull her into my arms.
"Never, Sugar. You're more likely to leave me right now than I am to leave you.
"Can we proceed with this wedding now?" The minister asks, breaking up Rory and my embrace.
I nod my head and he continues on with the ceremony.
"Cage, do you intend to take this woman whose hand you hold to be your lawful wedded wife? and do you pledge before God and man to love, honor, and protect her through sunshine and shadow alike? Keeping yourself unto her alone
until death shall separate you? If so, answer "I Do".""I do," I answer.
"Aurora, do you intend to take this man whose hand you hold, to be your lawful wedded husband; and do you pledge before God and man to be to him a loving and true wife, through sunshine and shadow alike, keeping yourself unto him alone, until death shall separate you? If so, answer "I Do."
"I do." Those are probably two of the sweetest words to have ever passed her lips.
"Cage, repeat after me: I Cage take you Aurora, to be my wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, excluding all others, as long as we both shall live. With God as my witness, I give you my pledge," I repeat everything he's said to Rory then I slide a custom white gold curved wisp band with tiny diamonds around the top onto her left hand ring finger, right next to her engagement ring.
"Aurora, repeat after me: I Aurora take you Cage, to be my husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, excluding all others, as long as we both shall live. With God as my witness, I give you my pledge."
Rory repeats every word the minister says, then slides a simple gold band around my finger.
"You may now kiss the bride."
I lean in to kiss her and everyone around us starts to clap just as my lips brush against hers. One of my arms goes around her waist, locking around her tightly. My other hand goes to her cheek and I kiss her like I have all the time in the world.
Because I do, we do.
Rory Trevor, you're stuck with me for the rest of our lives.
