At star and tohru's job

Are you done after we take these bags out? Momiji asks. Basically I was done an hour ago since the boss didn't need me anymore but I always helped tohru before I went. Oh shoot, I have to empty out the trash in the break room. Star says putting the bag of garbage that momiji was holding in the trash. I can do that. Momiji says smiling then jogging off. Oh, that's okay!  Star says looking over in the direction momiji went. It's fine, I'm having fun! Momiji says peaking around the corner. He then takes the garbage out, setting it to the side. Here. he says holding out his hand for a garbage bag. Star hands him one then they both place a bag in the garbage can. I really appreciate you helping me out like this. Star says, smiling at momiji. I told you not to worry about it! Is yuki walking you home again today? Momiji asks. Yup. star says. Kyo should be a good friend and come and get you every once in a while. But he's stubborn. Momiji says, smiling at star. By the way, momiji? Star asks as they put the bag on. Was? Momiji asks, looking over at star. I know one of your parents came from Germany, but was it your mom or your dad?  Star asks. My mutti! Momiji exclaimed happily. And, um, that means... star trails off as her eye twitches.

Mutti means mama. Momiji explains holding up one finger. Got it, so your mom is german. Star says. I've got a picture of her here. Ta-dah!

Wow! She's freaking gorgeous! Star says, shouting holding the picture with a tiny blush on her face. Momiji chuckles with a closed eye smile. I can definitely see the resemblance between the two of them. Star says in her mind, staring at Momiji as he smiles at her. She met papa-- oh, he's a soma, of course. Anyway, they met when they were in college. Then they got married. I don't know how he managed to attract such a beautiful person. Momiji explains as he puts the tops of the garbage back on them. Oh, is that so? Star says sweat dropping. And guess what! I have a little sister, too!  Her name's momo! She looks just like mama. Momiji says. Huh? I can't believe I didn't even know you have a sister. Star says surprised. Ja! She's just in second grade, though. Oh, and she's not one of the zodiac spirits. You wouldn't believe how spoiled she is. She follows mama everywhere, like some kinda baby duck. And she's not very great... he sounds so happy. Star says softly smiling at momiji as he explains how momo is. When she does, it's a little clumsy and jumbled. It's pretty much the cutest thing! Mama and momo usually come here to pick papa up after work. So they're probably around. Momiji says handing the star the garbage and she throws it away then turns and puts her hand on her hip. It's so great you all get to go home together.  Ja, well, that would be wunderbar, but mama doesn't know anything about me. Momiji says smiling then walks away. Uh? Star asks, looking over at momiji. Momiji's mother: oh, momiji. That is you, isn't it? Star turns and sees momiji's mom and momo. What are you doing here, of all places? And so late in the evening? Momiji's mom asks. Star stars at her with her mouth open slightly. Speak of the devil. It's her! Star says in her mind. Momiji chuckles, making star look over at him. She hides the picture of his mom behind her back. My friend works here, I came to keep her company while she helped our other friend. No one likes to clean alone, right? Momiji says as his mom walks up to him. That's very kind, but remember, this isn't a playground. Momiji's mom says as momo runs up and hugs her legs. You're right. I'm so sorry. Momiji says without his accent. Momo looks over at star. Then this must be his sister momo. Star says in her mind looking back at momo making her hide her face in her mothers dress. Momiji looks more like their mom than she does. Star says in her mind with a closed eye smile. Think of your poor mutti. She'll be so worried if you're not home for dinner. Momiji's mom says, making star look at her in confusion. Oh, it's okay! I'm leaving now! Momiji says with a closed eye smile. Straight home. Don't take any detours. Momiji's mom warns. Brings the picture out from behind her back looking back and forth making sure that this was momiji's mom which it was. I won't! Momiji says. We should get going, too, angel. Papa must be waiting. Thanks for your hard work. Momiji says taking momo's hand and walking past star. Yeah. sure. Star says looking at them, walking away. Momo stops looking back at momiji. Come on, momo. Momiji's mom says tugging lightly making momo start walking again. Star just watches them go. Ungluck! Momiji says snapping star out of her train of thought. What a pain. Today is not my lucky day. I'll have to apologize to papa later. Momiji says pressing the buttons on the vending machine then spinning, putting his forearm over his eyes. Momiji. Star calls softly making momiji smile softly and place his arms behind his back still facing away from her. Ja. Like I said, she doesn't know me. She forgot. She had her memories erased. Momiji says, making star gasp in shock. She obviously knows what my name is, but thinks I belong to a different branch of the soma family. Children possessed by a zodiac spirit are born two months before full term. And that's only the beginning of their problems. Just think: you meet someone you love, get married, and then you find out you're going to have a child together. You want everything to be perfect. To cradle your baby and have it turn into something inhuman. The mothers usually react one of two ways. They're either extremely overprotective of their kids, or they end up rejecting them completely. Mutti... fell into second category. She rejected me, body and soul. She wouldn't even look at me. When she wasn't sleeping or hiding, she was always on edge. Sometimes screaming hysterically. Thinking about it now, i think it emotionally broke something in her. Like kana. Momiji says as his mother stabbed herself with the sissorces. Momiji. Your mother might not make it through this, but the doctor thinks... it is possible she'll get better if she forgets all about you. I know that would be painful for you. But i promise to love you that much more to make up for losing her. If you love mama like i do, then this is the one way you can save her life. Momiji's dad says hugging younger momiji. Are you certain? You're sure you want to forget about your son? It's a big decision. You won't regret it? Hatori asks momiji's mother. You really want to sit there und ask me such a question? Then i'll tell you. I regret that i ever gave birth to that cursed creature. Momiji's mother says with tears in her eyes. Momiji watched with wide eyes. And that was it. I was erased from mama's memories. It wasn't long before she started getting better. After two months went by, she was even smiling again. Momij's explains watching his mother father and momo leave. Star walked up to the wind watching them leave as well with tears in her eyes

Mostly.... I just hope that i really was able to save mama. Momiji says sliding and sitting on the ground. He's been watching over her this whole time, hasn't he? Secretly, from afar... so she wouldn't see him. I bet that day when I first met him downstairs, he'd come here to catch a glimpse of his mother. Star says in her mind. She starts whimpering bringing the picture closer to her face. Anyway, i'm never going to be like her. I've decided to live my life keeping every one of my memories close to my heart. Star looks over at momiji. Even sad ones. Or memories that only ever seem to hurt me. Of times I sometimes wish I could forget.

A flashback of star running in the hospital finding her mother dead. I've promised myself I won't let them go, no matter what. Momiji says. Star drops her school bag.

Back to the present. Star stares at momiji crying even more.  Because if i can stand up and face those memories, if i can learn to accept them,* star hugs her mothers body crying.*  Then I believe one day, I can become a person who isn't beaten down by things that have hurt me in the past. * star's body shakes as she cries out for her mom to wake up.* I want to believe I'll be stronger. I want to believe there isn't a single memory that it's okay to forget. And that's why, in truth... I never wanted mama to forget anything. I wanted her to try to get better. To not give up. To try and love me. Which... is just me being selfish, I know. So that's a secret. Momiji says, placing a finger next to his lips.

Star whimpers then jumps up and hugs momiji making him transform. Tohru walks by them hearing a noise then shrugs it off walking away. That's me. I'm the same. I wanna be like that. Star says hugging momiji in his bunny form. I wanna embrace all of my memories, and keep believing, just like momiji. Star says in her mind. Hey. Kyo says, making Yuki turn and face him. Just so you know, I'm going to the gravesite. Kyo says then stomps up stairs. Yuki stares at him as he walks up stairs. That way I won't be defeated. And someday, I can find the beauty hidden in the difficult moments of my life. Star says holding momiji and smiling at him.
