"Let him go!" Mom demanded, pointing her gun at Merkel.
"The wife!" He replied in a deep voice." You fire, he dies!" He pointed at Flash.
Mom thought about what he was saying before she lowered her weapon.
"Get ready to go!" Mom mumbled just to me.
"I don't think I can do this!" I mumbled back.
"You can; I believe in you!" Mom said, sitting the gun down and I nodded.
"I can do this!" I said trying to convince myself.
This was a life or death situation for Flash; I didn't want to let everyone down. I had to do this whether I was ready or not.
"Okay!" Mom stood up." Don't hurt him!"
I saw Flash nod at me encouragingly as he watched.
"You heard the lady, raggedy dandy, let him go!" Ralph replied.
"Okay!" The man said, reaching behind and tipping the chair.
"Now Dawn!" Mom yelled.
My mind felt like it was going a hundred miles per hour as I lifted my foot to take a step. I kept telling myself with every second that I could do this until I started to believe it. One glance around, and I could see everything starting to move slower, the plane above, flash tipping over. Even mom and Ralph seemed to be moving in slow motion.
A smile appeared on my face as I ran towards Flash. Instead of running away from danger, I ran towards it, and it felt good.
I extended my arm passed a frozen Merkel to grab the chair or his leg. My confidence in myself was on a new level.
My fingers brushed the top of his shoes.
"Gotcha-"
He slipped right between my fingers. The smile instantly fell from my face as I ran into the side of the building, hitting my stomach. The world around me sped up as I slowed down.
"No!" I yelled as I watched him fall.
"Barry!" Mom screamed, running past me and throwing herself off the side of the building.
"Mom!" I yelled, watching them both fall.
I couldn't see them from the top of the building as they blended with the dark streets below. My heart dropped as I stood there frozen and unsure what to do until I saw Flash's familiar yellow lightning running down the side of the building.
"We're okay!" Mom said in the earpiece.
I exhaled as I turned around and slid down the side of the brick wall.
"Where do you think your going!" Ralph said, catching Merkel before he slithered into a vent.
I watched as Ralph engulfed Merkel with his body before turning to me.
"Come on, baby flash!" he said, extending an arm to help me up. "Let's join your parents. Quickly because I don't know how long I can hold him." He said as Merkel wiggled around in his belly.
"How are we going to get down?" I asked.
"The same way we got up here!"

Nora had shown up right after mom leaped off the building; making perfect timing . They were now having a Minnie celebration in the Cortex room. I had convinced mom and Flash that I was okay before leaving to get some water from the lounge. Instead of going back, I sat by myself on the lounge couch, Reliving tonight's events.I let them all down; tonight could have ended badly because of my useless powers. I didn't even want them, but not being able to use them was the cherry on top. I was angry with my powers, and Merkel, but most importantly myself.
After hallowing in my emotions for almost an hour, I left to write today's events in the time journal. I looked in my bookbag for the journal, but it wasn't there. I instantly got angry because I knew Nora had taken it and didn't tell me again.
We made a deal to tell each other before taking the time journal, and Nora wasn't following it. I stomped down the hall towards the speed lab where Caitlyn and Cisco said she was.
"Did you really stake out the girl's bathroom?" I heard Nora's voice as I approached the room.
Nora came into view first, then mom as I hid behind the wall. Were mom and Nora having a conversation? I was expecting to hear yelling or screaming at any moment but I heard the opposite. Nora and mom were laughing for the first time in a long time. I had forgotten that I was mad at Nora. She might have been breaking our journal deal but she was fulfilling our agreement from earlier.
I felt a hand rest on my shoulder, which made me jump.
"It's just me!" Flash said as I calmed down before turning back to listen to them.
"Is mom and Nora in there?" He asked as he began to listen also.
"They're talking to each other!" I added glancing up at him as he smiled.
"Come on, let's give their time!" Flash said as we both walked down the hall.
I thought about how I wanted to try being less scared; This was another chance. I could try talking to Flash and keep my part of the deal. I just needed to have one conversation with him; how hard can that be?
But, what should I say? I guess I could say sorry about not catching him earlier or yelling at him when we were training. I opened my mouth to say something. Before i could get anything out, Caitlyn called him to the lab, and he was gone again.
None of this matters anyway. One day we're going to go home, he's still going to be the Flash, and he's going to vanish. At least Nora and mom will have a better future, that's something I look forward to.
