Somewhere between the lake and the river's edge,
Lies an island of paradise covered in that pine and cedar,
When you take that first breath of fresh mountain air it cleanses your soul,
Along the lakeshore, all you see is the clear blue water,
Opening my eyes I find myself lying next to you,
Looking up I see the stars of ancient times,
Telling the stories of the Romans and the Greeks,
I run to the water's edge, dipping my toes in, bit by bit,
Basking myself in the rays of the moonlit night,
From our tent, I leave a trail of clothes for you to follow,
Diving down I feel the water skim over me like a dolphin,
Popping up in a gush of water droplets I feel you near,
You stand there on the shoreline of sand just staring at me,
I swim near to you as you enter the water,
From under me, I feel your arms pick me up,
You tell me you and the water are carrying me,
Never about to let me fall,
Dropping out of your arms I dive back into the water,
From behind you, I wrap my arms around the sternness of your chest,
You turn to caress my wet pale white cheek,
Flicking off each of the tears the water leaves under my turquoise eyes,
I place my hands on your chest,
Feeling your heart pounding against them,
Your hands slide down to my waist,
Placing them firmly against my hips,
Playfully, I pushed you back into the water as I scurry ashore,
You wrap my towel around my body,
I feel your chest back up against my back to keep me warm,
The fire crackles along with the sounds of the crickets singing in the wind,
Lying back under the tent I feel your breath embossed against my neck,
You lie back as I place my head on my folded praying-like hands,
All you do is stare back at me,
Our eyes match each other with every single glance,
I feel your hand glide down the small of my back,
The bareness of my skin sparkles in the rays of the moonlit night,
You turn towards me with a look of passion in your eyes,
I smile childishly not helping what my thoughts are thinking for me,
You kiss my lips softly trying not to tease me,
I close my eyes until the sun peeks through the tent flap in the morn,
Turning over I still see you sleeping,
Snoring like a little bird,
Sliding out from under your arm I find myself up in the trees,
I climb as the bareness of my feet clings to the bark of the tree limbs,
Feeling like a balancing tree frog of the Amazon,
From behind me, I see you come near,
You extend your hand up to touch my cheek,
Carefully you place a kiss on my lips as you help me down,
Dropping into your arms I rest my head on the nape of your neck,
Peering out in the distance the sun begins to rise,
Colors of the morn mirror off the clear blue lake surrounding us,
Placing me down I feel your arms constrict around my waist,
My head rests on your chest as the sun begins to rise higher into the sky,
Today begins a new day on our secreted island paradise,
A new day of birth for the flowers to open up to the world,
A new day for hearts to be intertwined,
A new day begins here on the hidden island beneath the mountainous sky.
