"He's not tha-"
"You should have known better! He doesn't deserve you!" He cuts me off before I can finish talking.
"Please hear me-"
"You know that he'll only hurt you! You can't date him!"
"Is it my fault then that I like him?" I snap angrily, "yes, I know he's not perfect! But nobody is. I like him, Ash. And can't you be on my side? I'm willing to take the risk, please don't make me chicken out even before I try."
He looks at me for a long moment, his mouth wide open. I guess it shocks him that I actually yell at him. My heart thuds in anticipation as I wait for him to say something. All our life, we've never had a serious fight, and I don't want a man to be the reason that ruins our beautiful friendship.
Ash finally regains his composure. He hugs me tight and ruffles my hair affectionately. "You know that I'm always on your side. It's always us against the world, remember?"
I blink back the tears that threaten to fall from my eyes, touched by his words. "Thanks, Ash."
"You got my back when Clayton acted like a jerk, and now it's my turn," he smiles lightly, "I'll kick his ass if he ever hurts you."
I snort imagining tiny Ash kicks Ryan's ass who towers over him at 6'3". "Your head needs to reach his chin first before you can kick his ass."
"Your head doesn't reach his chin but you have no problem in playing tonsil hockey with him," he sasses back without missing a beat, "besides, I'll ask Clayton to fight him."
Now that would make an interesting view, two shirtless men fighting. I don't know where the shirtless part comes from...
"Oh God, I'll pay to watch them wrestle in nothing but their underwear," I blurt out before I can hold myself.
Ash smacks the side of my head while blushing madly after he hears what I say. "Stop being a pervert!"
"Ow, sorry!" I laugh seeing at his flustered face, "by the way, can I come to your house after school?"
"Why? You want to perv on my husband?" he narrows his eyes and gives me a suspicious look, earning him a smack on the side of his head.
"Of course not, you doofus. I want to get ready in your house since my brothers will interrogate me if I do it at home." I roll my eyes when he still looks doubtful, "Oh come on! I admit that your husband is hotter than the sun, but his personality is still too cold like Russia in the winter for my liking, so I'll pass."
Ash pouts when I say that, but it's true. Although Ash has managed to make him a little bit less cold and more approachable, Clayton's glacial is too unnerving for me... and for anyone else besides Ash to be honest. Staying in the same room with him for more than an hour will freeze my butt off. In fact, one thing that makes me believe that Clayton really loves Ash is from the way he acts whenever Ash is around. He's still... cold, but he's more tolerably cold. It seems like Ash is his personal stove that can melt away all the coldness in his personality.
"Fine. Do you want to borrow my clothes too?" he asks as we walk to our next class.
"No, I have my own. But can you please ask the guy who picks you up today to go to my house before we go to yours?" I bat my lashes playfully. I have no heart to tell Ash that if I wear his clothes, people would think that I'm in middle school or something. Marrying a hot man doesn't make him change the way he dress. He is still the guy in batman t shirt and Spongebob sweater.
