Dan's POV

"Is it you, Cooper, or Brock who's going to pick me up after school?"

I ask Jared before I get out of the car. Today it's him who's dropping me off at school before he goes to work. No matter how many pouts I gave him this morning, he still wouldn't let me to skip school today. It was so hard for me to get out of bed and went to school, thanks to Jared and his late business event. I didn't have enough sleep.

"I actually want to tell you something."

"What? That I look amazing today? That I'm such a good brother? That I'm the best thing that has ever happened to the human kind? I already know that, Jared. No need to tell me." I pat his arm gently.

"Well, not really," he chuckles, "it's just that I want to tell you that you're not grounded anymore, and you don't have to go straight home after school."

"REALLY?" Several students who are passing by turn their head to Jared's car when they hear my loud, excited scream. What has happened to the old, meanie Jared? A night has turned him into an angel.

"Yes, Dan. But please refrain yourself from ruining my eardrums again," Jared flinches as he rubs his ears after I scream right into them.

"Thank you thank you thank you!" I launch myself to the driver seat and give him a big smile. His flinch appears more visible as he sees my knees accidentally knock his cup of coffee and make a big mess on his car's floor while I hug him.

"Just go before I change my mind," he says as he stares at the large stain that the coffee makes on his car. I quickly scramble away from him and scurry to the school's building before he grounds me again for ruining his car.

When I walk into my locker, I see that Ryan is already waiting for me there, leaning casually on a locker beside mine. The guy who owns the locker is only looking at Ryan fearfully, too afraid to tell him to move, but also afraid to be late to his class.

"Ryan, you're on James' way," I tell him that before I say anything.

"Who's James? The businessman that you met yesterday? The one that you want to replace me with?" My eyes widen in shock when he growls menacingly. James, the guy who owns the locker beside mine, looks like he's about to pee.

"Err... James is the one whose locker you're leaning on. He's too scared to tell you to move."

Ryan turns his head and glares at poor James, making him turn around and run into his class without getting his stuffs first from his locker. I guess he'd rather be scolded by the teacher than facing Ryan's infamous wrath.
