"Fine," he huffs, "just meet me at my locker when the school ends."

I don't know how many times I've checked my phone for any messages throughout the whole day. When I'm already in my last class and still there's no text from Ryan, I start getting worried. Does he change his mind? Oh God, what if he decides that the risk of me ruining his car is not worth having a date with me?
I'm too busy having a mini panic attack that I don't notice my phone buzzing until ten minutes later. When I see that it's a text from Ryan, I smile so wide that I can fit the whole population of China in my mouth.
"Why are you smiling, Mr. Sanders? Can you share to the rest of the class what is so funny from the Holocaust?"
My smile vanishes instantly when my history teacher, who is talking about the holocaust, catches me grinning like an idiot.
"Um... It's just that... I'm smiling because I'm glad Hitler was tortured before he got killed!" I blurt out the first thing that comes into my head, which, unfortunately, is a very stupid thing to say.
The teacher stares me down, totally unimpressed with my stupid answer. "You know that Hitler committed suicide, right?"
Unwilling to lose the fight with my teacher, I answer back like a smartass that I am. "Of course. What I meant is that he was tortured by his guilt that he finally decided to kill himself."
I smile triumphantly while my teacher only lets out a tired sigh and continues teaching. After I'm sure that my teacher is not looking at me, I peek at my phone screen and read Ryan's text.
I'll pick you up at 7 PM. Is that okay?
My heartbeat goes wild as I quickly type him the answer.
sure :) can you pick me up at ash's apartment instead?
My palm starts sweating as I wait for his reply. What if he goes like 'fuck no, I won't waste my gas for you'?
My phone buzzes once again when Ryan texts me back.
Of course. Where's his apartment?
It's really hard to keep myself from smiling this time. I can't believe I'm going to have my first, real date in my whole life. I'm so happy that I actually skip as I walk into Ash's locker.
"I don't even want to know what has made you grinning like that," he says dryly as I beam at him.
We walk into the parking lot, and as usual, Clayton's man is already waiting for Ash by the time we get there. At least I thought he's one of Clayton's men until Ash runs on full speed and hugs the guy tightly. I raise my eyebrows when I see the man hugs Ash back. This man is about to get fired.
"Um, I'm sorry. But I don't want to be the only witness of your infidelity, Ash. And you, sir, you'd better get your hands off my friend before his husband hunts you down." I'm amazed with this man's bravery, to be honest. Clayton's other men barely look at Ash whenever they come to pick him up. They know how scary Clayton can be when he gets jealous.
To my surprise, Ash and the mysterious man only laugh at me.
"Don't you dare laugh at me, Ash. That would be your last laugh if I decide to tell Clayton about this." My pout might not go well with my threat based on the amused smile that the man gives me.
