Were You Lying?—Jensen, The Wldlfe

"The clouds are pretty, don't you think?" Billie rests her head beside Ash's, who lays with crossed arms and closed eyes. The roof of Finneas' car is cold against her back, even through her clothes.

"Mhm," she hums. Dollop resides below her jaw, its fur tickling. She can't seem to be bothered by it, though. "Finneas' car sure picked the best time to break down."

Just twenty minutes away from home, the car ran out of gas and left them stranded. Finneas, who thankfully had his bike in the trunk, rode off to the nearest gas station.

Billie remains silent for a while, pondering. She wanted to ask Ash what she and Laura talked about earlier at her trailer, but she doesn't want to pry. She'd hate to make Ash uncomfortable.

"Spit it out, Billie," Ash mumbles. "You're making me nervous."

"Huh?" Then she realizes she's been staring. "Ah, sorry." She presses the flat of her hand with the cold steel roof, tracing her thumb in circles. Ash lazily reaches over and takes Billie's hand into hers delicately, then brings it up to her forehead.

"What are you–"

"Shush," Ash interrupts. "Let's stay in this moment, okay? Just for a while." Her voice grew quiet and fragile. Like the wind itself could pluck it out right from her mouth and carry it far away. Billie slowly turns on her side to get a better look at the peaceful girl. She wants to reach up with her other hand and caress her cheek, give it a kiss to let her know that she's here for Ash and Ash only.

She's quite beautiful like this, she thinks, smiling at the thought. The way the sun is shining down on her face, how her breathing is slow and easy. The way the corners of her lips pull, exposing her wandering mind.

"If you wanna live in the moment, I suggest you come out of your mind and actually live in the moment." Billie runs her thumb over Ash's brows, giggling softly as Ash groans and pokes her stomach.

"Let me bask in my troubles, will you?" Ash laughs lightly, taking Billie's hand into her own again.

"No." The blonde utilizes her forearm as a perch to gaze down on the girl with closed eyes, then a quick glance at the beady-eyed rabbit. "You can bask in them out in the open. With me. So, spill your thoughts."

"No."

"Ash, come on." Billie huffs. "You'll wrinkle your forehead if you keep overthinking."

"Ah, well, we wouldn't want that, now would we? It's my best quality, after all." Ash laughs, finally opening up her eyes and meeting them with Billie's blues.

"Oh, totally. I love your forehead." She leans down and kisses it dead-center. Ash, wanting to hide her surprise, waves Billie away lightheartedly. Though, her smile falls soon after.

"Alright, come on. Tell me what's on your mind." Billie sits up with her knees to her chest, cheek pressed with the bone. Ash follows suit, placing Dollop to the side, but she crosses her legs instead and hunches her shoulders.

"Nothing. Just thinking about Laura and everything," she mumbles, mildly hoping Billie wouldn't hear her.

"Wanna talk about it?" Billie leans in for a moment, nudging Ash. Ash stares up at the sky, admiring the clouds and their lazy spirits.

"Clouds really are pretty," she hums.

"Not as pretty as you." Billie kisses Ash's jaw with a grin attached. Ash recoils at that, shrinking into her shoulders, flustered. So, she fires back with her own peck on the blonde's head, then retracting her lips with a loud muah!
