Second place (James potter x reader)

So how to get back at Severus Snape.

Well while doing 'research' we figured out 2 things. He likes the dark arts, but he especially likes lily.

So to ruin the boy you gotta go to lily. This would be hard since I knew she wouldn't hurt a fly with no good reason.

I told the boys we needed lily in the plan so Id ask her to help and obviously James volunteered to come with.

We approached her as she was eating lunch, "Hey Evans" James sits beside her as I take a seat in front of her. She puts the book she was reading down and gives a questioning look "what's going on?"

"You know your good pal, Severus.. you wouldn't mind helping us on-"

"No" she cuts me off "im not to be involved in any of your silly pranks. They're a waste of time" she rolls her wyes.

"Oh c'mon Evans...?"James slithers his arm around her "all you have to do his tell him that you think he stinks and you never wanna see him again, easy that" He looks at her, hearts forming in his pupils.

Thats when I saw it. James and Lily were soulmates. There was nothing to change that.

"I have a better idea" I say "why don't we do something a little more fun, why dont the both of yall pretend your a thing and tell Severus. What an amazing prank right?"

I felt like I was breaking down inside.

"What an ever so random but amazing idea, im in" James smiles looking at lily.

"Im not, there's nothing in it for me" lily says taking James's arm off her "How about I'll do your homework for a week" James suggests.

"As if id trust those answers"

"How about you do it cause your my friend and snape lost us 20 house points" I give her my best puppy dog eyes.

She looks between James and I. "And we tell him its a prank right after?"

"Yeah, well we give it an hour or so to get a reaction but thats it" I explain, she rolls her eyes and agrees.

"Sweet!" James and I high five before getting up. He plants a kiss on her cheek just like he's done to mine, "POTTER!" She yells "Just getting into character" He smirks.

Her face was red and ive never seen James happier. This was just great.

The prank was setting into action, Remus, Sirius, Peter and I were hiding while James and Lily held hands walking towards Severus.

I could feel Remus's stare on me like he knew something I didnt. I turn my head to look at him "what? Do I have a bug in my hair?" I say coming off more rude then I anticipated.

He nods his head no, before turning back to the pair. I bite my tongue also turning back. I could see lily talking to Severus, James patter him on the head.

I couldn't imagine the way snape was feeling seeing the girl he loves with another guy. The feeling of heartbreak..

Suddenly I knew I had to stop this. I run out of the bush, as fast as I could I grab James's hand and pull him into the woods.

Not turning back we run.

Then I could feel his hold struggle, I turn back to not see James but Severus. "SNAPE? Where's James?"

"Don't ask me your the one who dragged me out here" He scoffs rolling his eyes. "I didn't even get to congratulate the new couple" his voice dripping with disgust.

"Oh don't get your knickers in a twist it was a prank , they're not actually dating." I say walking back to Hogwarts, snape following me.

"Why were you trying to stop it?" He asks

"Listen I didn't come out here to talk to you"

I started to pick up my pace, but Severus still stayed on my tail. Couldn't get rid of the git.

Soon enough we'd gotten back at hogwarts. "Farewell Black" He waves a goodbye. I just ignore him walking off in a different direction.

I bump into Remus on the way "Y/n where've you been? I've been looking for you all over the place. I mean running off with snape wasn't apart of the plan"

"I ment to grab James" I say truthfully.

He scrunched up his eyebrows "May I ask why" Remus why are you so questioning.

"Well I was afraid Severus might start throwing punches and I didn't want James or lily  getting hurt"

"Thats the full truth, no other motivations?"

"No" I say "what're you suggesting?"

"Nothing, c'mon y/n the others are worried for you" He grabs my hand leading me back to his dorm.

We walk in, "Y/n!" The boys yell running to me, they asked the same questions about Snape and I give the same excuse.

I don't even know what's true and what's false anymore to be honest,

I also informed them that I told snape that it was all a prank which made James frown. "Nice while it lasted" James laughs

"Oh hush it lover boy" Sirius hits james with s pillow making him fall over.

This causes us all to start laughing. Today wasn't the best but atleast I still had these 4 doofuses with him and thats all that was important.

I don't know what I would do without them
