"Attention passengers-" I slowly regain consciousness, glancing out the window. The stars twinkled in the pitch-black sky like millions flashlights in a dark room. I press my face against the glass, watching the lights in the city slowly get closer. We're landing.
Skyscrapers slowly came into my view, towering above the roads. They are far shorter than New York's but are still considered skyscrapers. I smile, wiping the fog from my breath off the cold window. It looks as just as I remembered it.
The plan soon came to a stop, and I departed from it. The first stop was to pick up my luggage. I found it relatively easily and continued out into the main area.
Much like the New York airport, it is crowded with people sprinting across the building to catch a flight. I decide to give Schlatt a quick call. It rings but he doesn't pick up. Of course. I call again. Still no answer. I sigh contemplating my next move. "Y/N!" A voice behind me calls. I turn around to see Charlie quickly approaching me.
"Charlie!" I say with a smile, "Where's Schlatt?"
"He couldn't make it." We shared a slightly awkward hug and made our way to his car. "Why couldn't he make it?" I question, sitting in the passenger seat of the car. "He didn't want to get out of bed, so I was chosen to get you.""Ah, of course." Charlie starts the car, and we start the drive to the house. Austin traffic is far better than in New York. One thing I miss. We pull into the driveway and get out. Charlie opens the trunk and I grab my two bags.
He opens the door and we're presented with a completely dark room. My hand feels for a light switch finally finding one. I flick it on. The room is empty people-wise, being it's only three in the morning.
Two sofas sit facing each other with a coffee table in the middle. A tv sits to the left of them. To the right of the whole living room area is a door. And straight forward is the stairs. The walls are painted an off-white, the stairs an oak color.
"I can show you to your room and you can go to sleep if you want. I know I'm going back to bed." Charlie states. He leads me up the stairs and down the short corridor. The light from the main room slowly fades into a light shadow. We stop at the room in the very back. "The bathroom is the very first door on the right."
Charlie points down the hall. I nod and thank him again before he leaves me, entering one of the other rooms. I open the door to the room in which I was assigned, revealing a pretty bland guest room. But what can you expect? At least it's clean.
The sheets are white, matching almost everything else in the room. A few things are different colors. Like the wooden dresser matching the bed frame. As well as the freshly vacuumed rug placed in the middle of the hardwood floor.
I drop my stuff by the door, as well as lost my coat on the footboard. Another thing I've missed about Texas is the warmer temperatures in the winter months.
I take a trip to the bathroom, being as quiet as possible, as to not wake the others. The bathroom looks just like a standard bathroom you'd see in almost everyone's house. Nothing special.
I finish up there and carefully make my way back to my room. Softly closing the door, I kick my shoes off and lay down on the bed. The mattress almost absorbs me as it sinks in. It feels almost brand new. I smile, already starting to drift off.
I stretch waking from my slumber. I think I'll get myself a new mattress when I get home. Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I sit up. I get out of bed going for my bag.
I pick out something to wear and quickly put it on. I brush my hair, (doing whatever else you do to get ready) and head to the bathroom. After taking care of my business, I exit. Heading down the staircase, I look around the living room. Charlie sits on the couch, scrolling through his phone with his back turned to me.
