When your older sister decided to go out last night, she had left with a huge smile on her face. After all, she was finally 18 and she was about to have a fun night out! So when you woke up this morning, running late per usual, you didn't expect to see your sister washing the dishes with a sad, thoughtful expression on her face. You shrugged and quickly got dressed and ready for school. When you came back, she was still washing the same plate with the same expression. This was definitely odd, even for her.
You gave a look to your father, who seemed just as puzzled as you were. "You know Sara... you have been washing that same dish for the past 5 minutes." Sara seemed to jump at this. "Ah! Oh my gosh!!!!!" She continued scrubbing the dish, but faster. You rolled your eyes, seeing the clock. "Shit Sara! We gotta go it's 7:15!" You felt your dad glare at you as your grabbed your sister's wrist. "Y/N LIN! Watch your language!!" You shouted an apology as you and Sara grabbed your bags and raced out the door.
After a bit of running, you two felt that you had made up for lost time and slowed down, still walking at a brisk pace. Your sister had that expression back on her face. This was getting troublesome. You sighed. "I am probably going to regret this, but what happened last night?" A giant blush came over her face and she froze. Great. This means it's boy trouble.
You stopped along side her and narrowed your eyes. "Come on. I know you want to talk about it and we are already running late." She sighed. "Fine!!! Last night Patrick, Vicky, and I went to the subway to get home. We were talking about the fact that I hadn't yet gotten my first kiss..."
You raised an eyebrow. This wasn't going to be good.
"And Patrick told me to just get it over with and kiss a stranger. He then proceeded to say I would be too chicken to do it. He bet $50 that I couldn't."
I facepalmed. "Why do you keep making bets with Patrick???? They never go well!!"
She continued, "Well I did... again. Anyways, so I look and see a boy asleep on the bench. And he is really really cute. So I go over and gather all my courage but then the train passes which wakes him up and he is staring me in the face. Soo I kindaaskedhimificouldkisshim..."
You stared at her. She actually did it?
"But then he got kind of angry and tripped me, and he called me a weirdo! I am so embarrassed!" You honestly didn't blame the guy, you would be creeped out too. However, seeing how bothered your sister was made your protective instinct kick in a bit. "Well that was a dick move of the guy."
You both spent the rest of the walk in pleasant silence, making it to the school just barely in time. You both went your separate ways, racing to your classes.
You burst into your classroom and sat down, right as the bell rang. The boy next to you gave you a look. "What?"
He shrugged and looked forward.
Class began, and as usual you were bored within 5 minutes.
The rest of the day went as usual, with you excelling in art and science and being bored out of your mind in math. As you walked out of the building, you saw Patrick and Sara waiting for you outside. "Hey Mini-Lin!" You rolled your eyes, trying to hide your smile. This had been his nickname for you as long as you remembered, and while you find it slightly annoying, it is also kind of endearing. "You aren't that much older than me!"
As you got closer he patted your head. "There there Mini-Lin, it's not your fault you are a junior." You kicked him and Sara laughed.
"Come on guys!" She had began walking and you and Patrick raced to catch up with her.
Per usual, Patrick walked with you guys until it got to the road where he had to head to his house. You and Sara made your way home after you guys said farewell to your loud friend.
As you two were walking, you noticed a guy in a hoodie in front of you. You heard your sister gasp. "Y/N quick hide me!" You sighed and pushed her into the bush. At the sound, the boy turned around. You just have him a deadpan stare as he stared back with a raised eyebrow. "Can I help you?" You asked in a bland tone. He just pushed up his glasses and turned back around without saying a word, continuing on his way. You waited until he was out of sight before pulling your sister back up to her feet. "What is your problem?"
Sara glared. "When I said hide me, I didn't mean push me into a bush!"
"Beggars can't be choosers. Now answer my question."
"That was Subway Boy!!!"
That was the boy she tried to kiss??? How did she even know, she wasn't looking at his face when she noticed it was him. "How did yo-" she interrupted you. "His shoes, they are the same as mine."
When you both got home, you two got a lengthy lecture from your dad about grades. "How are both of my kids struggling in math?" You both just looked at each other and shrugged. "Y/N, Sara Lin already got a tutor. I want you to do the same." "What? Dad I don't have time to go to a tutor!" Your dad narrows his eyes. "I want to hear no objections." You shut your mouth.
You spent the night emailing your teacher and getting a tutor. Apparently the guy is really good, and he is the same guy who is going to be tutoring your sister. You made sure to get different appointments so that you didn't have to have the same session.
Tomorrow tutoring would begin.
You were already dreading it.
