Spin A Thread Of Memories

Start from the beginning

"There is something I want to tell you." Louis broke the silence with his gravelly tone of voice.

Ayn's gaze rested on him, realizing that those words would probably be his last.

Louis, with the last remaining strength in his body, breathed out the following words. "I know this isn't the right place to say this, but..." He paused, feeling a bit unsure.

The determination to tell Ayn how he felt left his body, he was never the kind of person who can put his feelings into words. He usually shows his emotions through his actions, because using words gets complicated in different ways.

So instead of telling Ayn how he felt about him, he decided to show him instead. Louis brings his face very close to Ayn's, until their lips meet.

Ayn's eyes widened in surprise, he was like a compass that has lost north
spinning without pattern, without end his heart races erratically, unmoored by just the soft touch of Louis lips on his.

He thought that he didn't have feelings of love for Louis, but it seems that wasn't the case. Without noticing, that love buried itself in his chest, growing its roots somewhere deep inside blooming and blossoming. Reaching and tangling around his veins, wrapping its vines around the bones, spreading its pollen through his bloodstream with every gentle heartbeat. Seeping through his fingers and toes, crawling up his spine and flowering in his thoughts.

The man who smiles in front of his eyes is the person he loves, even if he is not willing to accept those feelings, his heart cannot deny this love.

Ayn hugged Louis before his body completely disappeared. The two revenants saw no need to use words to convey their feeling for each other, the kiss was enough to let Ayn know Louis' feelings for him. Ayn hugged him with the intention to respond to those feelings, and that embrace was all Louis needed to understand Ayn.

...

Yakumo, who had rushed to find the revenant who shot Louis, saw the figure of a man hiding in the mist. He called out to him, trying to get his attention.

"I know you're there, show yourself!" Yakumo demanded furiously.

The man's figure became clearer when Yakumo said those words. The revenant stopped hiding in the mist, revealing himself to Yakumo.

"You..." Yakumo paused for a couple of seconds, then pointed his gun at the man in front of his eyes. "Rathion, were you the one who shot Louis?"

Rathion looked at him with his empty eyes, with those icy-blue eyes that lost all their life and beauty.

"The vestiges, you must stop Ayn." He mumbled as he walked closer to Yakumo.

"What the hell are you trying to tell me, speak clearly." Yakumo lowered the gun.

"If Ayn recovers the Chronos vestiges, his memories will be lost forever."

"You mean he has to sacrifice his memories for yours?"

"Yes, if he spin a thread of memories for me, then his memories will be lost in the process."

"That's fine, it doesn't matter if I lose my past memories." Ayn's monotonous voice caught Yakumo's attention.

"Ayn, what about Louis?" Yakumo asked.

"He's gone," Ayn said softly, "Rathion, is this the reason why you asked Jack to destroy the vestiges?"

"You met him?" Rathion's gaze wandered from Yakumo to Ayn.

"I did, also, convinced him not to destroy the vestiges."

"Why would you do something like that for someone you don't remember?" Rathion could not understand Ayn's motives.

"I want you to rest in peace, and also to alleviate the guilt that Louis has been carrying alone all this time."

Rathion didn't think Louis still felt guilty about what happened in the past, especially when nothing was his fault. And that he wasn't able to find a way to cure Rathion's strange condition isn't a reason to feel guilty either. Rathion suffered because one of the queen's relics reside inside his body, he was unfit to be a successor.

At first, he did not know what caused him so much suffering. But by the time he found out, it was too late to do anything about it. He was already becoming a lost, that is why he made the decision to sit on the throne taking the place of Gregorio Silva.

The person who stayed by his side was Io, she was also the one who proposed to Rathion to change the mistakes he made. Thanks to her, Ayn could be saved and the cruel fate of the successors will certainly change.

"Then you are willing to spin a thread of memories for me, even if you have to pay the price of never getting your memories back?" Rathion grasped both of Ayn's hands.

"I have created new memories, the past will stay in the past, what matters is the present." Ayn squeezed Rathion's hands.

"Thank you, and please take care of Louis for me." Like in Ayn's dream, sad gentleness brewing within Rathion's icy-blue eyes, as he let out a tender smile.

"You don't have to worry, I will protect and take care of him." Ayn reassured, smiling back at Rathion.

" Ayn reassured, smiling back at Rathion
