Special (Levi x Reader)

We were carefully advancing through the forest. A soldier tripped and dropped his flashlight on the ground. The horses hissed.

"Watch your steps!" Levi scolded him.

"Sorry..."

We were all tense. The darkness of the night and the forest was oppressing. The closer we were to our destination, the quieter everyone got. I took deep breaths to calm my heart which was beating fast. I did not recall being that anxious on previous expeditions. It was the first time I felt that kind of stress. I glanced at my captain. Was I fearful for the outcome of the mission or only for my lover's life?

"We are arriving! We can see the old trail!" someone informed us.

After a while, we exited the forest and got back on our horses. It was the first time I saw Wall Maria. What happened five years ago allowed Greg and I to escape the underground. I never thought I would be part of retaking it. I knew one thing for sure: Greg would have given his heart to assure Humanity's victory. He would have been proud of me, for taking part in this battle.

We raced towards the district. We were all on the look out, expecting anything.

"Be on guard for titans hiding in the shadows! Our operation begins now!" our commander shouted.

All 200 soldiers including myself put on our hoods to cover our faces. Erwin believed that the enemy would try to catch Eren and I again. That was why all the soldiers had to hide their faces, at least until the outer gate was plugged.

"All troops, switch to ODM gear!" he commanded.

We all left the back of our horses which got taken by the newest recruits and flew to the top of the wall. I landed next to Eren who was looking at the destroyed city. I too, took a good look at the district. So that was it, where it all began. Houses were in ruins, vegetation had taken over.

"Don't stop! Head for the outer gate!" Levi ordered us.

"Yes sir!" we all responded.

We ran then flew towards the breach. A hundred metres further, I stopped next to Levi and Hange while Eren and Mikasa continued. We scanned the area, searching for enemies in the horizon.

"This is all too strange... Not a single titan in sight?" Hange murmured.

"We have to keep going." Levi answered.

"Yes. We have no reason to call it off."

Hange shot a green flare. That was the signal that Eren could seal the breach. The boy flew high in the sky. He got above our heads and started his fall. He transformed mid-air and used the hardening he so vigorously practiced to plug the wall. Mikasa flew to him and got him back up.

"The breach is sealed!" a soldier yelled from below.

Green flares were shot. Good, the first step was done. Now it was time to plug the inner gate. We made sure that Eren was alright before continuing.

I looked at my surroundings, a bit concerned. We still hadn't located our enemies, Bertholdt and Reiner. The plan was to act quickly and to apprehend them. But they were nowhere to be found.

"Let's continue. And keep your faces hidden." Hange instructed.

We all headed for the inner gate. It was strange, it was way too easy.

"You did it Eren. You should believe in yourself more." Mikasa said.

"It's not over. As long as the enemy is still alive, the walls can be breached again. We have not successfully retaken Wall Maria if we haven't killed Reiner and Bertholdt." Levi stated.
