Hange's PoV
To say Hange was a wreck after Y/N left was an understatement. What was more on par with what was happening is 'they won't leave their room at all, unless it's to eat dinner, and emerged themselves in their research to take away from the pain' kind of wreck. Everyone aside from moblit pretty much steered clear of them. And for the first week, Levi and Erwin were understanding of it. Even though they knew that Hange and Y/N were not really together or in love, they were still close friends and cared about one another.
Hange sat at their desk in silence. Though experimenting in their room had been taking up their time, there were times when all they would do is sit in silence near a light, and look over Y/N's possessions that she had brought when she first arrived. Many of them had just been jewels and anything she could pawn off later on if they needed extra cash, however there was one possession that hange had surprisingly held dear.
She had left behind her Hairbrush.
As Hange looked it over, it's almost as if they could feel Y/N's hands brush over their hair. She had been so gentle and tender, making sure to gently remove all of the knots within Hange's hair without causing any type of pain. It was much different from when Levi forced Hange to wash and brush their own hair- which would result in them whining and rubbing their sore head from trying to take out their own knots. Hange also remembered the way Y/N's soft hand had caressed their face, brushing a strand of hair behind their ear after braiding their hair.
And then what happened after...
They'll admit, they were originally going to kiss Y/N right then when they had placed a hand on her waist, however they had noticed the letter and that's how they were here. Maybe it was for the best that they had found the letter, but they still can't help but wonder if it would have been better if they hadn't known anything- let their last few days with Y/N be peaceful instead of stressing the both of them out with this.
No. It was better that the both of them had anticipated this. That they had been prepared to deal with it, even if they had only known for one day before Y/N's father showed up.
Their thoughts were interrupted with a knock at the door.
"You look like shit." was the first thing that was said to them, as they opened the door to see Levi and Erwin standing there. The two looked in great contrast as Erwin held a smile, holding a folder in his left hand while Levi sported his usual frown, arms crossed.
"Yea-" they chuckled "I feel like it too." They admitted. The sight of their friends was welcomed to take away from their grief, if even for just one moment.
"I bet- especially when you close your windows and don't allow yourself to get some sunlight." He cringed in disgust as he let himself into their room, trying not to step on the books and clothing strewn everywhere, and got to the window, opening it up and letting in the sunlight.
Y/N had always been the one to do this beforehand, otherwise Hange's room had usually stayed dark and closed off. It helped them to focus better. The sunlight streaming in just created weird shadows on their papers and distracted them when a bird or something else flew by. Hange also remembered how Y/N always looked out the window. She had once mentioned that it helped to calm her down, and so they had left the windows open... for Y/N. She always had looked so beautiful with the light on her face, giving her a halo effect around her, and making her seem more angelic than anything. They missed it.
Levi didn't mention how on the bed laid one of Y/N's shirts- though it was a bit weird, he understood the feeling. It was hers, and if it brought Hange a little bit of solace then so be it. However, that didn't stop the words from coming out of his mouth, despite how cruel they may sound.
