Steven POV:
I had called the girl I had asked on a date- well I hadn't, unless I had- only to find out it was Sunday. Why I was sure it was Friday today, but I suppose not. So now I sit alone at a table for two, waiting for a steak even though I'm vegan, and watching the performer, the incredibly attractive performer.
Y/n POV:
I had been performing since four and now it was going on ten, my shift nearly complete. At about seven this absolutely adorable man sat down at table five, which was only about twenty feet from the stage. He had come in grinning with a box of chocolates under his arm, a classic first date maneuver.
After about an hour, he made a call if I had to guess the person who stood him up. And here he was still poking lightly at his steak, clearly confused as its intent. I couldn't help but grin, finally, someone was interesting in this restaurant full of snobs. Not that I'm complaining, I love my job and I'm paid well for my voice, but it doesn't mean I have to love the people.
When at last the time had come for my last song of the night the man was getting his check. I was supposed to sing More than a Feeling by Boston, but I walked back to the man playing the piano, my friend Charlie. I leaned against the edge of the piano (ever so slightly, I would never hurt an instrument), and whispered, "You wouldn't happen to know the music for Maybe this Time would you?"
He looked at me, looked out at the audience, and said, "Table five?"
"Aw screw you," I whispered, as he smirked. I walked over to the mic, grasping it in my hands before turning back to him and mouthing, "but yes."
I adjusted the mic a bit before talking into it, "I'm going a little off-script here guys, I'm not going to lie." I laughed softly and noticed the man look up, which made my heart skip. "I was supposed to sing More than a Feeling, a great song I know, and if you want to hear it, come back tomorrow and I'll sing for you then." My tongue wet my lips before I started to smile. "Tonight however I've opted to sing a song for someone else, so I hope you like it."
Charlie began to play, and I felt the jazz flow through me like some great big hug, and I let go of myself. With the mic between my hands, I began to sing.
"Maybe this time, I'll be lucky / Maybe this time, he'll stay / Maybe this time, for the first time / Love won't hurry away." The man handed the waiter the bill and then his eyes returned to me and I couldn't help but feel like I might have been flying. "He will hold me fast / I'll be home at last. / Not a loser anymore / Like the last time / And the time before." I glanced back at Charlie to see him smirking, and I couldn't help but shake my head with a smile. "Everybody loves a winner / So nobody loved me / 'Lady Peaceful', 'Lady Happy' / That's what I long to be." I looked back at the man to find his eyes following my every movement, his eyes more lively than they had been all night, perhaps even more than when he first walked in. "Well, all the odds are, they are in my favor / Something's bound to begin. / It's gotta happen, happen sometime / Maybe this time, I'll win." I really hit my stride in my singing, the notes loud and strong. "'Cause everybody, oh, they love a winner / So nobody loved me / 'Lady Peaceful', 'Lady Happy' / That's what I long to be." The big finale, I thought to myself. "Well, all the odds are, they are in my favor / Something's bound to begin / It's gotta happen, happen sometime / Maybe this time / Maybe this time, I'll win."
As the music stopped I was met with a quiet round of applause, but the man at table five stood up clapping viciously before realizing no one else was and sitting back down, abashed. That made me grin and I said into the mic, "Thank you. I hope you all have a good night."
I went over to Charlie, who was cleaning up his piano for the night. "So do I just go over to him?" I asked Charlie.
"Yes you just go over to him," He said far too loud. "Stop standing there. Go before it's too late."
"Ok, ok! I'm going!" I walked over to where the man was starting to gather his things. "Hi, I gather this is your first time here?"
"Was it really that obvious?" He asked, with a smile and a cute voice.
"Just a smidge," I said. His face fell. "No! It's ok, really. The people here are too uptight anyway, just don't tell my boss I said that."
"I won't," He said with a grin.
We stood there a moment in silence before I asked a dumb question. "So who was she?" Instantly I realized what I had said. "Sorry, you don't have to answer that."
"No, it's fine," he said with a grim smile. "The funny thing is I'm not really sure. To be honest, I don't really remember asking her out."
"How do you not remember asking her out?" I said grinning.
"Well," he paused, scrunching his brow. "I'm not entirely sure about that."
"As one usually is." By that point, I was rocking back and forth on my feet, laughing at his adorable smile.
"I- I don't believe I know your name."
"(Y/n). And yours?"
"Steven with a v. Steven Grant," he said grinning.
"Well it was nice to meet you Steven with a V," I said. Nice to meet him? I should have asked him out!
"It was nice to meet you too," he said. He began to walk off and I was left debating my existence. Nice to meet him? I turned to help Charlie with his equipment before I felt a tap on my shoulder. "(Y/n), would you like to maybe go out sometime?"
"Yeah," I smiled. "I would like that. I'm free basically any Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday." I grabbed a napkin off of the nearest table. "You have a pen?" He shook his head no. "Charlie!" Charlie turned abruptly. "Do you have a pen?" Charlie rolled his eyes and grabbed a pen off of his piano and put it, very passive-aggressively may I add, in my hands. "Thank you." I jotted my number down upon my napkin. "Here, my number." Steven took the napkin.
"Here, you should have these," he said, handing me the box of chocolates he had brought with him.
"Oh, thank you. Well, hopefully, I'll see you around Steven."
"Laters gators," He said, waving as he walked off, bumping into a table on the way.
"You know you have that big dopey grin on your face, right?" Charlie said, shaking his head.
"You're just jealous I have a date," I said smiling wider.

When I opened the door to my flat that night I heard my phone go off in my pocket. I entered the flat, closed the door behind me, and read the text: Hi!!!!!-Steven. I sunk back against the door, opening up the chocolates and popping one in my mouth. The quiet clicking of my phone's keyboard was all that could be heard in my small flat. Hey, Steven with a V. What's up?
A/n: Hey guys, so you probably realized by this point, but I decided to change my Loki oneshot book to a Marvel Oneshot book. In short I did this because of my Steven Grant/Marc Spector/Jack Lockley obsession, but if you guys have requests for a certain character just let me know.
