'I cant believe they named me legal guardian.' Katrina whispered to hannibal as the judge spoke.

'you wanted to adopt Esmeralda? Is that right?'

'yes your honor. I have taken care of esme since before she was born and I cant live life without her. I want to continue to provide for her and help her grown into the wonderful young woman I know she can be. She may not be my blood but as far as I'm concerned she is mine. I love her with my whole hart and no one is taking her away from me. please.' Katrina added.

'please don't take kitty away from me. I love her so much and shes all I got and please!' esme begged. 'she is my best friend and I love her and I would die I might just die if you take her away from me!"

'I agree. This girl has lost enough, she needs the stability of the one person she has left. Approved.' He banged his gavel and katrina jumped a little at the sound. They signed many, many documents and then it was official 'you are now legally esmeralda's mother.' Katrina was going to cry she was so happy.

'can I change my name?' esme asked.

'what do you mean? To princess Consuela banana-hammock?' katrina joked on the way home. Home. Her home. All hers and esmes.

'NO!' esme said giggling from the backseat with Harvey. 'to esme simmons.'

'you don't have to take my last name. even if you still are a de luca you are always mine. Always have been always will be love.'

'I want to though. So everyone knows I'm yours. I don't want anything to do with them. They never wanted anything to do with me. I want to be a simmons.' Esme said confidently.

'how about over the next week or so you test it out. Whenever you meet someone or write your name you write simmons and if you still want to change it... we will.' Katrina's heart felt heavy with love.

'what about lector?' Hannibal offered. 'once I marry your mom,' he gave katrina a squeeze. 'she will be a lector... if she wants.'

'oh... I could be both right, like what celebrities do and take both names!'

'whatever you want esme.'

'the world is your oyster!' Harvey added grinning.

'right of course. The world is your...' harey thought for a moment not coming up with anything.

'I don't understand the jokes but I like it too.' Esme added. Her family. Esme and Harvey and Hannibal. all hers. She didn't have to worry about the de lucas coming home and having to put on a charade. Katrina could raise esme how she wanted. She would still get everything she wanted because katrina wanted to spoil her. but she would continue to give her all the love and all the things they could never have. Katrina was getting esme a cat!
