Mermaid and Human(Lumity AU)

I hurried to the library as soon as I saw my parents leave for some important work junk. I know you won't believe it, but I saw a mermaid last night named Luz, and before I could get to know her or her species, she swam away as soon as my idiot twin siblings, Edric and Emira, came looking for me. She looked beautiful, like a star in a clear night sky, or a majestic hummingbird. My boots stomped across the stones as I thought to myself. I, a perfectly normal human, met a part of a species I didn't even know existed. Mermaids, weird huh? Anyways, I instantly went to the historical section as I found myself at the book-filled building. Nothing about mermaids, real ones anyways. I got a good look at Luz, and I think it's safe to assume that she probably looks like the average mermaid, like everyone else. Science? Biology? Biographies of epic sailors? Nothing except the tales of madmen."What'cha looking for dear?"A sour yet comforting voice asked. I turned my head, Seeing Edalyn Clawthorne. She's the librarian here, she knows anything and everything. I quickly organized my thoughts. Mermaids turn out to be real and I'm trying to find out things about them. I took a breath, then spilled everything that happened."So last night I went to the beach because my parents almost emotionally murdered me and then a mermaid, yes, a mermaid, came up and started comforting me and I was super confused and her name is Luz and know I have to find out things about Mermaids because I just found out they existed and know-"I almost started before she started sushing and motioning for me to be quiet. I stopped and looked at her curiously. What was so important that she, a person who half the town doesn't even know talks, make me shut up about an entire new species of humans/fish existing? This is a scientific breakthrough, even greater then Einstein! Okay probably not but it's  still amazing. She pulled me up to my feet, dragging me outside, and to the tide pools. There's a small portion of the beach that has tons of pools, most of them are big enough for a giant to fit through."Here's what you need to lead her back. I think I know her possibly, she should be your age by now. Mermaids love fish and seaweed to eat almost more then they do fancy looking  things, so make a fancy looking meal out of this. Also, your gonna need a translator, a messenger if you will. I can help. Also, meet me everyday after your parents leave, so I can teach you more about Mermaids."Eda explained. I nodded along, Holding out my hands as she gave me some grey fish and some seaweed. I tied the ocean grass into the fish fins, making a sort of wrap around it. I left them at the pool closest to the ocean, then sat down, waiting for her arrival.

Hours, and hours, and even more hours passed before a familiar face poked out of the pool. Luz smiled with her sharp teeth as soon as she noticed me. Eda laughed as she saw the mermaid. She spoke to her in that...mer-language that mermaids have. Eda nodded along, I could tell she was internally noting things."She says that her full name is Luz Noceda, and she wants to know yours. I'll tell her, don't worry."Eda informed, making organized blabbering noises. Luz happily cheered and her scales seemed to bounce around her skin. I laid my body down, keeping my head up with my arms. I noticed that after some blabbering, Luz seemed to side-eye me. Eda seemed to be either surprised or impressed by Luz's next...words? I don't know anything about mermaids, much less their language. Eda nodded and sat back down."She wants to bond with you, meaning you should swim with her for a while to try and get to know each other, or until you can write merliese, the mermaid language, at least decently."Eda stated, keeping an arm between me and Luz. I thought for a moment. Just a quick swim with a mermaid, I'll be fine. I nodded and moved her arm, reaching one hand out to Luz. She at first examined it, Her hands touching mine. She looked back at me, asking for permission to take me under. I nodded, Getting in the water along with her. She put her arms around my waist, her tail wrapping around my legs. I took a breath, then let her pull, or rather whatever the small and careful version of that is, under the surface.
