Chapter One

• Spinner's End •

The dark clouds rolled across the light grey sky with ease, teasing the air with the smell of rain. Roaring of thunder, light but strong, caused Sabina let out a small yelp as she quickly shut the blinds. The sound of heavy rain rushing towards the rickety house soothed her but the fear of seeing lightning struck her deeply. She didn't fear storms, actually finding them relaxing, but whenever lightning were to strike the fear in her body rose. Lightning was the only thing that instilled fear of storms, seeing the bright electricity strike down always caused the thunder to sound detrimental and made rain feel like it would suffocate her until drowning. She knew the storm was coming and it was coming quick but saved herself this time from flying into a panic attack. The relaxing sounds made her want to lay down, but Sabina was determined to wait for rest until her father returned home.

He had been away on business for roughly two days, normally he would never leave his precious daughter alone for long but this was a quick trip. He would be returning home shortly after he left and felt no need to send her to stay with family friends. She paced her room with worry, something she did every time her father was gone for more than a night. Sabina hated not seeing him every day, making sure he was taken after properly. Her father held so dear to her heart it was a pain for him to be away. She never liked being home alone, but her room gave her a sense of comfort. It was nicest room in the run down house. Nothing really expensive, big white windows covered the furthest wall from the door. It was surrounded by her collection of plants and gold-colored decorations.

The room reflected her personality quite well. Enormously differing from the dark and gloomy state of the rest of her beloved home. Spinner's End had been run down years before she was welcomed into this world. The dusty, light color of her walls brightened up the place as her delicate decorations cluttered the bijou room. It looked the perfect amount of lived in with the effortless scattering of clothes here and there. Giant, fluffy yellow sheets wrapped around her white, iron frame.

Music spilled softly out of an old record player, the house was made of a mix of muggle and magical items. The quiet static filled the silent room while she waited for the next song to start. Sabina was playing a new record her father had gotten her for the past Christmas. In Utero, was the album she was currently listening to. She had been surprised her father actually had gifted her the record because it was a muggle band, but he would do anything to make his little girl happy. She was the last piece he had left of her mother. Swaying around the room, with the occasional twirl, she attempted to fill the quiet void of the empty house. Entertaining herself in her room.

Sabina huffed throwing herself backwards into the soft sheets. Blowing her black hair out of her eyes as she sighed before pulling into a seated position, legs crossed. Tucking her dress over her knees, reaching for her new advanced potions textbook. The thick book laid along her lap as she flipped through it for the third time, brushing up on the first half she had already read and starting to work on chapter twelve. Sabina was a good student, phenomenal is actually a better word. She focuses all her attention on her academics and when she has free time, she's found in the library or out in the green houses helping Professor Sprout with plants. She loved plants, her heart beat for plants. Sabina would tend to them while cracking jokes with her friends, Hannah Abbot and Neville Longbottom. The trio would have many laughs, the girls giggling at the little mess ups Neville made before reassuring him it was all in good fun and mistakes happen.

While busy reading her textbook, she failed to notice her cat, Ivory, jumped onto her bed. Curling up against her thigh, being sub-consciously petted by her owner as she continues reading. Ivory normally spent the night curled up next to Sabina but would sometimes disappear throughout the house and even wander about outside.
