"Today is the worst day ever." Amanda groaned between disgruntled bites of her ham sandwich at the cafe. "I cant believe the club won't give me footage from that night! Something about how it's 'classified' information and 'they've got everything handled'."
"Dang, yeah."
"And on top of that, Kid cancelled on our movie night! Can you believe that guy?"
"Yeah, that's rough."
"(f/n)! What's your deal? You're totally spacing out on your clearly-distressed best friend!"
You were doing your best to pay attention, but all you could think about was Law. Just that morning he agreed to show you what the full moon really meant to him. And what it meant for him.
The thought of him randomly wolfing out in your apartment was an amusing thought, at least.
"Sorry, sorry. I just...have a lot on my mind."
Deflating like a balloon, Amanda only nodded and pushed her plate away like a petulant child.
"Amanda, listen, it's probably best we don't get too involved with what happened at the club, right? I'm sure they really do have it handled!"
She looked away.
"And with Kid, well, I'm sure he's going to make up for it."
"Yeah, whatever." She then turned serious and leaned against the table, lowering her voice, "(f/n), be honest, do you think that club is hiding something?"
"...What?"
"I know what I saw that night. And I think they know that I know what they know, you know?"
You blinked.
"Whatever it is, I'm going to get to the bottom of it. You in?"
Suddenly, your chest coiled in on itself. Surely she wasn't actually capable of exploiting the wolves around here, right? Good or bad, regardless of whose side they were on, they had their own agenda. And if Amanda got caught in the middle of it...
Hesitancy crawled over your tongue, feeling torn between two sides. "I really don't think we should-"
"You know what, never mind," interrupted Amanda, raising her hand dismissively, "Maybe you're just not cut out for a life of risk and danger."
Oh, honey. You have no idea.
"Amanda, wait-"
But she was already gathering up to leave.
"I'm not waiting any longer, (f/n). If you need me, you know where to find me."
And with that, she left.
"What a sour sack of skittles."
"Ack!" You jumped at the random voice behind you, whirling around to see a familiar blonde head.
"Oh my god, Sabo? Don't scare me like that!"
"Ah, my bad!" He turned around and laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Here, I'll join you."
As much as you were surprised, you were rather relieved by his presence, especially with how fast he replaced Amanda as your cafe buddy in that particular moment.
"So...what should I do?" you asked, resting your chin in your hands as you hoped Sabo would come up with a rational solution in foil to your chaotic brain.
"Well, we're certainly in a tight spot with the full moon just a couple of days away."
"I still don't even know what that means," you groaned, "Law's going to tell me tonight, I think. Or soon. I don't know. But it's never been an issue before since he usually just leaves."
