December had rolled around as well as the large amounts of snow, Tony never got the 'holiday spirit', none of his families had ever celebrated it so he didn't see the purpose. Why did everyone love it so much? The whole christmas story revolves around a man breaking into your home while you sleep and leaving presents depending on how good you've been. The boy was sat on the sofa, too tired to eat though too awake to sleep, he was watching some science documentary which didn't interest him too much though he couldn't find the remote to change it.
"Morning Bud." Steve smiled, messing up his hair.
"Sleep well?" Tony asked out of politeness, tilting his head back
"Not too bad. We got plans today though, so get some food in you and then some warm clothes." Steve stated, turning the kettle on to make a coffee.
"Where to?" Tony sat up, rubbing his eye to appear more lively.
"Sledging, with Pepper, Rhodey, and Steph." Steve waited for a complaint about how it's a holiday activity, but Tony had a more scared expressions. "What's up?"
"Do you think Stephan will be mad at me? For running off.. i haven't seen him since school." The boy's voice sunk, as he starred down at the floor.
"Tony, course he'll forgive you. You had your reasons. And you'll be going to school again soon, you don't want to be on bad terms. So just apologise and then have some fun?" The blond walked over, sitting beside Tony and pulling him into a hug, the boy immediately melted into the touch. "Right, Bucky is fishing around for gloves and hats, so go get ready and then we'll dig out the sledge."
—
It took another hour until they were in the car and driving up to the hillside, They we're wrapped up tight, though Tony complained he looked fat, which Bucky quickly shut down due to the boy already being underweight and not wanting to put any negative thoughts in his head.
"This it?" Steve asked, before indicating.
"Should be, Pepper said it was the one with the gravel car park." Bucky confirmed, Steve quickly hummed in agreement, "Excited, Tones?"
"Not really. Not sure how to Sledge, looks dangerous." The boy picked at his nails, more anxious about Stephan being mad.
"Tony!!" A muffled yell was heard from a car, Rhodey was waving from it though was quickly opening the car door to greet him. Once the car was parked Tony got out to say hello.
"Hi Rhodey." He grinned, fixing his gloves. "Hey Stephan, Sorry for running off before,I ju-"
"It's fine, Don't get in knots over it." The taller boy nodded, giving him a gentle smile.
It didn't take long for the brothers to be jumping with excitement, it must of been a tradition to go sledging because they were talking about previous high scores about how fast they could get down the hill.
"Do you like Sledging?" Rhodey turned to Tony with a large smile, it was almost contagious.
"Dunno', never been." The boy shrugged, wrapping his arms across his own chest.
"You've never been?!" Rhodey starred at him as if he had shot someone, his jaw could of been touching the ground.
"Calm down!" Stephan chuckled, staring at Rhodey.
"Never had the chance." Tony chuckled awkwardly, having a small smile on his face in response to Rhodeys shock.
"Mum! Can we go yet?" Rhodey whined, starring back at Pepper.
"Be safe!" She shot back. The boys got into their sleds, having some trash talk before preparing to kick off.
"Tony get in mine!" Rhodey grinned, Steve and Bucky were still getting his sled out so he decided to comply. He slipped in, grabbing ahold of Bucky's shoulders.
"3..2..1!" Stephan yelled, kicking them off. The boys raced down the hill, Tony clinging onto Rhodey with his dear life.
—
After a few more goes up and down the hill, Tony even had a chance to go on his own though he ended up tumbling off at the bottom in a fit of giggles. Stephan gave him a hand to help him up, as they walked up the hill together.
"You planning on going back to school soon?" The taller boy glanced down.
"Uh.. yeah. Next week, not too excited." Tony bit his lip, feeling the cold breeze hit him in the face.
"It'll be alright, if you ever want to escape the assholes just go to the library, they won't be caught dead there." Stephans bit of advice had Tony thinking, if he could just get to the library unseen then he'd have the whole of lunch and break in peace. "I can wait for you outside of your classes if it'll make you feel better, i may not be as old as them but at least you won't be alone." Stephan suggested.
"Really? I don't want to be a burden." Tony have his sled a tug, feeling it hit him in the back of the ankle making him stumble.
"You won't be a burden, promise."
