James Bond x Reader Sweet Nemesis

You didn't sleep that night.

Your thoughts wouldn't let you.

You loved James with all your heart but the words still echoed in your mind "You're too broken to be loved".

Maybe he was right. But Kerres had made his move. What if your sister had died? What if he took you? You still remembered what he had told you before he killed your parents, "Not everyone get's a happy ending"

What if you weren't meant to get a happy ending?

The baby's cry got you out of your thoughts.

Why the hell was she crying? She had eaten and slept. But when you smelled her, realization hit you.

You changed her diaper and put her to sleep.

A few hours later your sister came to take her, reassuring you for the tenth time that she was fine.

You got ready and went to the agency. You were still thinking about James and what had happened between you, but this was personal and now you were at work.

You were waiting at M's room as Eve had told you to, when you heard M and James talking behind the slightly opened door. You stood on the other side trying to make out what they were saying.

"She must not learn" James said.

"She has every right to know" M argued.

"And what exactly are you going to tell her? That we knew about the attack? That we didn't arrive there on time? That we didn't catch him on time? I failed her"

You opened the door and faced him.

"Really James?" was all you managed to say.

James ran behind you and grabbed you by your wrist.

"Leave me ALONE!"

"Y/N I'm so sorry I didn't-"

"I TRUSTED YOU!" you yelled, "I TRUSTED YOU. I LOVED YOU. But I guess it wasn't mutual. So, just leave me alone"

You freed yourself and ran to the exit.

And when you entered your house you cried.

Because you thought he loved you. Because Kerres was right. Because you were too broken to be loved.

Three days later you had no news from Kerres. You were going to your job and acted normal but avoided James as much as you could.

The fourth day M called you to her office, James, Eve, Q and Tanner there as well.

"We have information that he is going to strike at the Prime Minister's public speech tomorrow. If we have an opportunity to catch him, this is now. Q, I want you here. Eve, James and Y/N you'll be in the field. Eve you're assigned as a reporter, you'll have better view from the cameras. Y/N and James, when you catch him, do not kill him. Do you understand?"

You all nodded and she handed you a file with the necessary information. "See you tomorrow" she dismissed you.

It was 5 a.m. and you were reading when your phone's screen lit up and a message appeared.

Eve:

Date cancelled. Care to come and help me with the dinner?

You:

I'll be there it ten

You wore your coat and left. Eve's house was three blocks away so you got there quickly.

"Hello" she greeted you.

"Hi. How are you?"

"Fine"

You entered her house but you didn't see any dinner prepared.

"Didn't you make dinner?" you asked her but the door bell rang before she could reply.

"Can you open the door?" Eve asked you from the kitchen.

You opened it only to close it again when you saw who was standing on the other side.

"Y/N, please" you heard James voice.

You sighed and opened it.

"What do you want?

"I love you"

"That's the problem, James, I'm too broken to be loved. There isn't a happy ending for me"

He came in, taking your hands in his.

"I love you. With all my heart. And if there's a person who deserves to be loved the most that's you"

"But-"

"We are both broken. But we can heal together"

"We don't deserve a happy ending. Not after what we've done, the people we've killed"

"Do you say that I am a bad person?" he teased you.

"Yes" you smiled. "But I'm your sweet nemesis"

"And I am yours" he cupped your face and kissed you.

"Finally" Eve laughed entering the living room and you both laughed. "It took you too damn long to realize that you love each other. It was fun seeing you being idiots"

"Don't tell me that you made a bet"

"Oh, we did"

"What? With who?"

"Tanner said that you could last apart for one month after your travel, Q said two weeks, I said six days and your sister said three"

"I hate you"

"Yeah, fine. Will you stay?"

"I am afraid we have to go" James gave you a look that made you blush.

"Oh, yes. Of course" Eve smiled and you left.

When you returned to your house you took two glasses and poured some wine to "celebrate".

James opened the radio, pulled you in his embrace and you slowly starting dancing.

When he was with you he was a complete different person, and you liked it.

He began to say something but he stopped.

"What happened 007, did you lost your words?" you teased him.

"Don't flatter yourself, 005"

"Oh, yeah? What is it then?"

"It's that everything happened quickly"

"If you're not ok, we can-"

"Don't even think about it. We can't ruin it after it took you so long to put your ego behind and admit your feelings, can we?"

"Excuse me?"

"Oh, you should see your face darling"

You laughed and he kissed you. You had one night before your mission, and you both knew that it might didn't end well for both.

You stood in silence for a while when you heard a strange noise outside. You both grabbed your guns and went to check.

You heard a gunshot from outside and you both headed there. The alley was dark and you couldn't see much so you covered each other.

When you didn't find anything you decided to return but then an explosion was heard next to you and the next think you remember is being to the ground.

All you could think about was the pain that rushed through your body, and the ringing in your ears.

You tried to look for James but your vision blurred and you couldn't keep your eyes open anymore.

Before you lost consciousness you felt a hand, his hand, taking yours and holding it.
