"We can all meet in like two hours, Ive got something to do before we play," Eddie spoke to the group, Carrie stood trying to pretend that she had somewhere better to be, she absolutely didn't. "Right, well see you in two hours Dustin," She spoke turning to leave quickly. "Make sure you're not late," Dustin shouted. "Wouldn't want Vecna to get you," She rolled her eyes as she left, although part of her was wondering what Eddie had to do, she quickly rid herself of the thoughts considering today was the first day she'd met him, kind of. As she was walking away she heard another shout, "Hey!" she turned around, unexpectedly seeing Eddie Munson. "Hey stranger," his smile melted something in Carrie. "Carrie," she held out her hand to shake his. He accepted, "Carrie? Like the book?" she nodded, "Huh I guess I won't be voting you prom queen then" she shook her head at his comment, it wasn't the first or last time she'd got that, "Eddie, its nice to officially meet," he laughed, was there a hint of nerves there? "I swear I didn't know you were Dustins sister," he looked down at his shoes, they were both wearing black boots.  "I know it might seem weird but if I promise not to kill you, do you wanna go on a walk or something?" it was a hint of nerves. She nodded, motioning for him to lead the way.

They began walking and the conversation seemed way too easy. "Black Sabbath are definitely up there with the best band, they're so hard core" he smiled as he spoke to her, both still walking. She noticed they were walking near Skull Rock and for some reason she trusted that he wasn't going to murderer her in the woods. "For me it's got to be Motley Crue, now they're hard core," she returned his smile. They soon approached a bench, "Do ya' wanna sit?" He asked, she nodded. "So why did you ask me to come on a walk?" she questioned him. "We'll I figured the rock king and queen should meet eventually," he cringed at his own words. "Oh wow, bold," she laughed, she couldn't remember the last time a conversation had been this easy. "I've wanted to talk to you for ages but you know," he tried to hint. "I do not know," she was genuinely confused. "You're intimidating," he laughed slightly. "You look like every rock god of our time and I'm intimidating?" she laughed. "Oh yeah," he looked into her eyes as they sat opposite each other on the bench. "If I look like every rock god, then not even Joan Jett looks as good as you, you're one of a kind," he winked at her which caused her to blush. She felt in a trance when she was with him, like nothing could bring her out of it, "Eddie? You said no one would be here," well that definitely brought her out of it. Carrie turned to see the well known cheerleader stood before her. Her heart fell as she realised everything he'd said had been some lie, she was a time filler before Chrissy turned up. She looked back at Eddie whose mouth was open in an attempt to speak. "I was just leaving," Carrie stood from the bench. "W- wait Carrie," Eddie choked out. He was too late to explain anything and he knew how it looked. "See you at D&D Eddie," she breathed out harshly. "Oh erm, Carrie is it? Don't tell anyone you saw me here?" Chrissys voice was high and silkly. Carrie squeezed her lips into a line while nodding and turning to walk away.

Carrie's thoughts swarmed her. Of course he had no loyalties to her but you dont just invite one girl and have another lined up like a fucking business meeting, right?

"You came!" Dustin was more excited that his sister had actually pulled through for him than he was about the game. Carried smiled and nodded, it was nice seeing her brother so excited. "Erm," Eddie coughed, trying to clearly the awkwardness that only he and Carrie knew were there, "Do you know how to play?" he asked. Carrie looked down at her little brother and smirked, "Who do you think taught Dustin?" The game was tense, the awkwardness from the beginning had gone, it was like earlier never happened as Carrie and Eddie kept stealing glances at each other. Carrie thought he made an amazing games master, "Hail Lord Vecna. They turn to you, remove their hoods, you recognise most of them from Mucbar, there is one you do not recognise, his skin shrivelled, desiccated. And something else, he is not only missing his left arm but his left eye!" Eddie finishes and everyone begins to shout, complaints of no. Carrie was really into it, "Vecna was dead, he was killed by Kas!" she threw her head back in shock. Eddie broke character for a second, smiling at the girl, it made his heart swell at the fact she was joining in, she didn't think they were freaks. He snapped back into character, "So it was thought my friends, so it was thought, but Vecna lives!" the game continues. "You are scared, you are tired, you are injured. Do you flee Vecna and his Cultists? Or do you stand your ground and fight?" Everyone looks around at each other. "I say we fight," Carrie looks at her brother whose face has a wide smile, "To the death!" he nodded. Everyone around the table joins in the chants, while they do Carrie takes a second to look at Eddie who is smiling and clanging onto the table like everyone else. She can't help but notice how perfect his smile is as he falls back into his chair. The game resumes filled with highs and lows until one of the members shouts "Time-out, time out,", the group huddles, "guys I hate to say this but we have got to flee," one member says, "I concur," another joins. "Didn't we just agree to fight till death?" Carrie questions. "That wasn't literal," a member fights back. "Vecna just decimated us, we can't kill him with just two players," Dustin wasn't having this sort of talk, "You too? He only has 15 hit points left dont be pussies,". "Pussies really? Because we're not delusional?" Carrie decided to stand up for her brother, "Delusional, How about not cowards?". "Hey!" they all spun around to see Eddie, "If I may interject gentlemen, Princess," he smiled slightly more on her name which made her blush profusely. "Whilst I respect the passion, You'd be wise to take Gareth the Greats concerns to heart. There is no shame in running. Don't try to be heroes, not today kay?" he smiled, he was in character this time as he seemed to mock them. "One sec," Dustin spoke, the group turning again. "What do you think Mike?" Dustin asked. "How many hit points do you and Princess," he cringed slightly that he had to call his best friends sister that, suddenly D&D names weren't as fun, and Carrie had certainly only thought about Eddie having to call her that, "have left?" Dustin and Carrie spoke at the same time, "12" The group turned back to the table. "It's risky as hell, but you're the ones on the battlefield, so its your call," Mike spoke to both Dustin and Carrie. "What do you say sis?" he asked. "You really gotta ask?" She smiled. "Screw it, lets kill this son of a bitch!" Dustin and Carrie smiled. "The chances of success are 20-1" a member spoke. "Never tell me the odds. Gimme the D20," Dustin spoke, one finger in the air. He threw the dice, everyone stood in anticipation, it rolled. "Thats. A, MISS," Eddie spoke, shaking his head wildly as he did. Everyone shouted in worry, only one player left. Everyone stared as Carrie threw her dice, it was more tension and pressure than she'd ever felt in her life. Yet instead of watching the dice roll she looked up, mesmerised by Eddies enthusiasm. The dice landed on a 20, everyone cheered, Eddie danced in shock that she'd hit it. "That's why we play," Eddie smiled. The boys around Carrie cheered, hugging each other but she kept her eyes on Eddie as he bent over the board, spreading his arms. He came unto her, finally out of character picking her up and spinning her around. "Eddie!" she shouted in delighted as he continued to spin her, though he did make sure her skirt wouldn't come up. "Congratulations!" he smiled as he finally put her down.

The players had began to leave, Carrie told Dustin to go wait in the car, leaving just Eddie and Carrie. "Who knew you were such the player Princess?" he smiled and kissed her hand, bowing slightly which made her laugh. "By the way, earlier, it wasn't what it looked like," he gulped. "You dont have to explain who you see to me," She looked away awkwardly. "Hey," he put his hand under her chin, realigning his sight with hers. "Since I trust you to keep a secret," he smiled at her. "It was a deal, she wanted to buy from me, that's all," his smile was genuine but she still wanted to press more. "Is that why you took her to a classic date place?" she cocked her head at him. "Huh," he pressed his tongue into his cheek, "Well, I took you to the date place and I was meant to tell you that Chrissy would be coming to pick up, buutt," he paused, she waited "But our conversation flowed a lot better than I thought it would and so I lost track," he smiled. "I promise," he entwined his pinky finger into hers. "You were an amazing dungeon master by the way," she smiled, changing the topic. "I need to thank you for joining and helping out last minute," he smiled to her. "You're welcome," she smiled back. "I hadn't thanked you yet," he smirked learning down to her, closing the distance between the two as their lips touched gently. It was a soft kiss that made the butterflies in Carries stomach come back to life, reminding her that she was still capable of such feelings. Eddies hand snaked upto her neck, pulling her deeper, making the kiss even better. He pulled out slowly as the fireworks that exploded in both their minds eased. Carried smirked, biting her lip. "You're welcome?" her tone seemed to question if that's what he meant. A horn sound startled the both of them, Dustin. "See you later Eddie" Carrie smiled to him. He licked his lips, "Goodbye Princess," he waved.

Carried left feeling on Cloud 9. "Hawkins won the Basketball match by the way," Dustin spoke as Carrie began to drive home.
