Damian POV:Today is it, today is the day. Today is Jonathan Kent's birthday, the most important day of the year to me so far. I have planned today to every minute detail, not a single butterfly could be where I didn't want it to be today. I had planned everything out, the gift I was going to give him, where we were going to hang out and when I needed members of the family to pop in and lend a hand secretly.
The day was going to start off at Jon's place, where it would seem like a regular hangout, however I have organised a cake baked by Cass and Steph (mostly Cass) to arrive, Clark and Lois will then take that cake and bring it in as a surprise. We'll go through the regular birthday traditions with a little move that seems selfish but sue me, Jon has told me since my birthday that he was planning on adopting our tradition with the knife reaching the bottom of the cake so some clever positioning might get me a little pre-confession smooch. From there he'll open the gift I got, a bracelet with a metal clasp, on the inside of the clasp will be the words "love you" engraved. Hopefully he doesn't notice the engraving at first so I can reveal the engraving after the confession. The plan is foolproof and perfect, nothing could go wrong.
I woke up late. Rushing from my bed through my routine, I throw myself together and run out, fixing my hair. I'm wearing a black turtleneck with a grey blazer and pants and black shoes. I slide down the bannister of the stairwell in the main foyer, landing next to Dick.
"There you are, you ready to go-" he starts but I rush past him and to the car, hoping in, "DRIVE" I say desperately. My foolproof plan, and I woke up late.To confess? I didn't want to leave my dream, it was ideal. A soft morning where I woke up Jon sitting on the edge of my bed, ready with a cup of coffee in hand. He was so pretty as the morning rays filtered through the blinds and onto his cute Jonathan Kent face. We had a picnic, watched a movie and had an amazing day before I cuddled him during the movie and fell asleep, which is when I woke up from that dream. But here's my new dream. Make that a reality.
Each step I took felt heavier every time, this was it. I knock on that door, enter the room and the plan will kick in motion. If it all works to plan then Jonathan will be my boyfriend by the end of today. But finally doubt kicks in and I freeze on the steps, what if he says no? What if I have taken all his little looks and blushes the wrong way? What if I fail? What if he hates me? What if he never speaks to me again? I can't do that, I can't not have Jon in my life... I need him. But this doubt, it's mind poison, I can't afford it, not today.
I continue striding up the stairs and reach the familiar door, using the special knock again. Very soon Jon opens the door and grabs me before I can say a word, dragging me into the apartment he steps back and Clark and Lois say hello. I return the greeting and turn back to Jon, his hair is fluffier today and a smile plasters his face in his oh so charming fashion. His attire was rather casual and consisted of his flannel and jeans combo along with a band shirt that I don't recognise and of course his cute glasses. I return his smile and bring him in for a hug which he freezes up for a moment during, not expecting the affectionate move I'd presume but nevertheless hugging me back, picking me up and spinning me around a bit. He sets me back on the floor and his hands remain by my sides, "Happy birthday" I smirk and he chuckles. Oh to hear him laugh is a pure joy to me.
Jon very quickly perks up again and his grip on my sides tightens in excitement "Wait! We have to play" he says and I'm curious
"Play? Play what?" I inquire
"Mom and Dad got me a switch Damian!" He says and leaps over the back of the couch, I now notice that the screen is showing some sort of game, super smash bros? I've heard about this game from Tim and Duke, apparently it's very fun.I walk around the couch and take a seat and Jon implores me to pick a fighter. There's a wide array of fighters to pick from but some of these would appear to have actual weapons, so I pick the one that looks the most capable for combat. Jon sighs, "Dangit, I should've guessed you'd go with a fire emblem guy" He pouts
"Well he seemed capable for combat, it is a fighting game after all is it not?" I question and Jon chuckles, I remain confused. He picks a gorilla and I'm even more confused as the match begins, I'll have to learn this game fast but I'm sure I'll win.
